Remember when ukraine did a copefensive into Russia proper?
It was celebrated by Nato sphere as a genius military move but it got memory holed after the ukraininas got defeated and lost their best mechanized units.
If they would still have those units they could easily counterattack the Russian breakthrough which is threatening to FLANK THEIR MAIN DEFENSIVE LINES LMAO.

Holding the main eastern defense line was never our objective. Pokrovsk was not important, we only defended it with everything we had to troll Russia lmao.
We didn't want Eastern Ukraine anyway. 1 in 20 Ukrainian soldiers have successfully evacuated Pokrovsk. Putler failed in his objective to genocide every Ukrainian. Mission Successful: the defense of Pokrovks is complete. Glory to the Ukrainian heroes!

Kursk was a much bigger disaster for Ukraine.
They lost a lot of men and equipment with the spring (delayed to summer) offensive, but at that point they could afford the loss. With Kursk they had to pull off squads from the eastern front and went all in. Not only they failed there, they weakened every other front and that's when Russia started gaining ground quickly. They didn't expect the Koreans, and with their help Russia could take back Kursk without having to pause its offense in Ukraine.

I'm still baffled by why the Ukrainians - who were originally trained in Soviet tactics - thought that occupying territory in Russia would have any kind of psychological effect when the fundamental military strategy of that nation since 1812 and even more emphatically in 1941 is to give up as much ground as necessary to allow attackers to overstretch themselves.

Like the anon said ''meatwave'' is a made up propaganda term from Nato. What Russia is doing is using heavy firepower to attrit a position then small squads of 2-5 stormtroopers infiltrate the position.
So its a tactic of overwhelming firepower+small infiltrator squads.

Nah that was just the copesplanation after their real objectives failed which was to take over the Kursk nuclear power plant.Notice that after their offensive got completely defeated they switched narrative again and said that they had to attack the Russians in Kursk to prevent them attacking into ukraine but that was memoryholed too after Russia crossed into Sumy.

The offensive on the east was paused for a fucking year while monke and his norks chimped out over Kursk. That's a year to establish logistics, rearm units, build fallback positions and so on. Russia took that year bashing its head into a brick wall until it's elite naval infantry were wiped from the order of battle and replaced by koreans, then moved on to bashing its head into the east again.

Not sure when zigger shills are going to realize that hurling escooters and museum pieces into the meat grinder for incremental gains is not the picture of martial prowess you want it to be.

It was reported that for every Ukranian soldier who died, 14 Russians have died.

Ukraine puts out a lot of propaganda of Russians blowing up, and in war when that happens it's typically the side that's taking more casualties who does it.

So I reckon it's pretty close to 1:1.

Ukrainian positions can be known about for months and months while taking indirect fire and constant drone harassment. If Russians had superior firepower they could just destroy positions as they please and move on.

They literally just pour as many men and armaments as they possibly can into the frontline, use everything they can in the summer, reinforce and dig in for the winter and wait. It's literal WW1 tactics with drones.

It depends what mobile elements Ukraine has in the area or in reserve. I've seen a Ukrainian captain of Azov state Ukraine has no mobile elements in the area. I've also seen a report stating that Ukraine has considerable mobile elements in the area.

If you look at the defensive lines there are two main problems. One, they mainly run east-west showing an anticipated Russian attack from the south. So the Russians have the advantage of enfilade pretty much making the fortifications useless. Two, the Ukrainians in haste or for other reasons, left off the little hooks from the ends of the fortification lines which are designed to protect against enfilade too.

Probably in light of all of this, a Ukrainian soldier would stand a better chance in open country than in their own trenches.

>Kursk Operation. Retrospective
>It has been more than a year since the Special Operations Forces first used their special forces, psychological operations units, the Resistance Movement, and drones in coordination with friendly units.
>This created multi-layered pressure on Russian troops and the conditions for the rapid advance of the main forces in the Kursk region.
>For the SSO soldiers, this operation began two months earlier.
>Careful reconnaissance, strikes on enemy rear structures, destruction of key elements of the Russian defense. This is far from the entire list of tasks successfully completed by the SSO soldiers.
>Careful planning, destruction of Russian air defense systems and ammunition depots by the SSO soldiers deprived the enemy of the opportunity to react quickly. Point strikes on strategic objects and logistics coordinated with friendly units made it impossible to quickly transfer enemy reinforcements
>Small groups entered the enemy’s rear long before August, where they destroyed his defenses before the main forces arrived.
>Thanks to the unique and comprehensive use of the SSO, the soldiers led the main forces of the Ukrainian troops into Russia. Russia found itself unable to resist the offensive on August 6.
>The Russian military-political leadership once again proved its inability to respond promptly to the situation and the asymmetric nature of the war.
Anonymous (ID: pE1h5CDN) Russian Federation No.512836917
>>512836884

>Meanwhile, in the enemy’s rear, special forces groups and the SSO Resistance Movement carried out ambushes, raids, sabotage, and blew up enemy bridges and crossings. >Drones destroyed logistical convoys, heavy equipment, and enemy personnel while the enemy frantically tried to contain the onslaught.
>The SSO used more than just kinetic actions. The SSO Psychological Operations units sowed chaos and panic, and the Russian military was disorganized through an operation codenamed “Seneca.”
>It took the enemy command several months to try to turn the tide of events. North Korean troops appeared, to whom the SSO special forces quickly inflicted perhaps the greatest losses since the end of the active phase of the Korean War more than 70 years ago.
>The SSO soldiers were the first to seize documents, weapons of the DPRK troops and take the first North Korean prisoner.

Ukraine never stops waging the informational/psychological war and I suppose that (with the help of western media and big tech) they've been winning on that front but this can only go so far when things just keep getting worse on the (physical) battlefield. At some point it just becomes sad to watch but you still gotta admire the dedication of the people working on that desu. Like Baghdad Bob still doing his job until the very end.

>The offensive on the east

Russia doesn't do "big arrow" offensive anymore, they put pressure on a half a dozen points across the entire front to stretch the ukies thin and then exploits the inevitable gaps that appears.

Obviously it looks like the frontline doesn't move, and to be fair it indeed barely does, but what we see now is the results of that entire strategy : the AFU barely has any reserves left to plug the hole.

Once they'll scrounge something to throw at the russians in that specific section of the front, the russian will just stop assaulting that section and focus somewhere else.

Repeat until THD is achived.
