I didn't start till I was in my mid 30's, following a TBI.
It was the only thing that leveled things out.
When I started, I realized that it was the FIRST time I had actually been relaxed in several years.
It may not be a crutch that people like to see, but it is a crutch that helps.
I've healed alot since then, and only do it a time or three per week, sometimes I quit for a few weeks.
A little now and then is still alot better than none at all.
I don't want to develop a tolerance, but I could function fine doing it every day.
It really doesn't seem too different cognitively and emotionally than a normal day 15 years after a TBI, just a bit less anxiety than not using it.
That being said, I accidentally took too much a couple of weeks back and made the anxiety worse. I was still functional, just like having a bad day that was very calm and soothing at the same time.
