Asia practiced feudalism longer than Western Europe. Feudalism is functionally a Eugenics program. If you're a Feudal lord, You pick out the smart peasants who are socially compliant and give them parcel of land to work and an equally smart and sociable wife. The dumbasses you keep from breeding and kill off the antisocial assholes. Over the centuries, you end up with a relatively smart and socially compliant civilization. In Europe the Renaissance basically ended Feudalism for all intents, and the Black Death, ironically, gave peasants room to expand, innovate, and be somewhat free while Feudalism trudged right along in Asia. The end result being that while Europeans and their descendants aren't quite as smart on average as Asians, they are more innovative and also more generally rebellious and crazy while Asians, as a rule, are smarter, but have a less rebellious spirit and have trouble innovating. Also, Europeans are more likely to kill the living shit out of each other and build Empires in the process, after which, they kill the living shit out of everyone else.
