The Russian motorbike tactic actually work, lol
The Russians seem to have realized that armor no longer plays a role in modern warfare. It's too slow, too big a target, and too many people can die when (not if) a drone hits it. Motorbikes and buggies are small, fast, low-slung, and if one gets hit by a drone, at most 1-2 soldiers die, and the rest move on. Could we see more of this used in modern combat?

GOOD MORNING THE STAVROPOL! Friendly Ukie drones have visited "Monocrystal" - a Russian chemical industry enterprise and one of the world's leading producers of artificial corundum (synthetic sapphire) for the optoelectronics industry. The company is part of the major holding "Concern Energomera," which unites three main business lines: electrotechnical instrument engineering, electronic materials and components.
Main product lines:
Synthetic sapphire is a key material for optoelectronics, widely used in LEDs, displays, and electronics.
It is also used in the military sector as a durable and transparent material for protecting optics, sensors, and screens. It is utilized in sights, thermal imagers, laser systems, missile homing heads, UAV camera fairings, as well as in the windows of instruments for aviation and space technology. It is distinguished by its high impact resistance, scratch resistance, and ability to withstand extreme temperatures.
Silicon carbide is a key dual-use material used in armor protection, radars, and military electronics.

The coming days will be decisive for the fate of the 30% of Donetsk region currently under Ukrainian control. In recent days, Russian forces in Donetsk Oblast โ despite suffering massive losses โ have advanced about 18 kilometers into Ukrainian defensive lines, primarily on foot or using light vehicles (motorcycles, buggies). This advance has bypassed Dobropillia and reached the highway linking Dnipro with Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Ukraine now has very little time to cut off and destroy these Russian units. This will be possible if Kyiv can send several mechanized battalions to this sector and organize a counterattack, as Russian units in the area currently lack active support from FPV kamikaze drones. If this attempt is delayed or fails, Russia is expected to deploy mechanized units with armored vehicles to the breach and begin intensive FPV drone use, making it much harder to push them out. In the worst-case scenario, the regionโs two last major cities โ Sloviansk and Kramatorsk โ will be isolated from the Dnipro region, with supplies coming only from the Kharkiv direction. It must be stressed: if Ukraine cannot deal with a few hundred Russian infantry cut off from their own logistics, the Ukrainian army will not be able to maintain long-term control of the region. Ukraine must act swiftly to reclaim at least about 15 square kilometers of territory within the next few days.

It is counterintuitive but it is war of attrition where any land is mostly irrelevant because victory will be achieved by one side giving up, not by grand battlefield action.
Evidence points to Ukrainian advantage in casualties inflicted to sustained, not greatly memetic 14:1 but still. Vatniks claim that because there is more pidors than hohols then puccia must win. If that was truth then Qing would won opium wars instead facing century of humiliation. Conversion of pidor to (useful) mobik requires equipment and training time. At present both sides feel shortage of trained manpower and equipment, but as for now industrial capacity supporting Ukraine is greater than that supporting Russia. So in time Russia should attrition itself to point of near collapse and sign ceasefire at present line of contact (with possible minor adjustments), then it will shill it like greatest victory ever.

GREGGPOSTING
12.08.2025 Update
We are now back to normal front updates and, naturally, focusing on the Pokrovsk/Myrnohrad front โ since thatโs where everything is happening right now.
At Sumy, the pendulum is holding and swinging in our favor, while in the Pokrovsk area the final battle for Donbas is underway.
The Ruzziansโ goal was to take Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in the summerโs major offensive.
That did not go as planned, since our Kara Drag and Tservona Kalina brigades are holding their positions there โ much thanks to the drones you helped provide.
The Ruzzians applied heavy pressure, attacking with 200 men on motorcycles (as I reported earlier this summer) but were eliminated.
The Ruzzians have suffered enormous losses, and it now looks like they have given up trying to take the two cities.
Instead, they are moving through wasteland (see the picture) in an attempt to go for Dobropillia.
Many bloggers and journalists claim that the Ruzzians have now broken through our main defensive line.
We have dug new lines after lines all the way to Kramatorsk, with fortifications here and there, dragonโs teeth and barbed wire, as well as drone positions.

>>512847552Today I spoke with the two commanders, Tabak and Vitaly, about the situation and they are not concerned.
The Ruzzian resources that were supposedly going to capture Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad will not even be enough for Dobropillia.
The terrain in the area is open and there are streams here and there, plus marshland in the valleys (see the videos from our car journey into Myrnohrad that I posted a few days ago).
The Ruzzian tactic of first taking Dobropillia would be correct if they had the resources to carry it out, but now the majority of these โtouristsโ will bleed out during the advance, and the last of them will be destroyed at Dobropilliaโs outskirts.
If there were any real danger, the command center for both our brigades would already have been evacuated.
Since they have now committed most of their resources to moving through the wasteland, attacks on Konstantinivka have decreased.
Shelling of both Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad has dropped sharply in intensity, and our boys in position are standing firm and not moving back.
Both our brigades gave us a wish list of what they need, so our task is to do our best to fulfill their requests.
The total cost is around 350,000 SEK, and we started the fundraising yesterday.

In the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, a radical experiment is underway: in some districts, mobile internet has been completely shut off. And in some citiesโmobile service as well. "Meduza" reports on how life is now structured there (this experience will be useful to many).
1/?
In the spring of 2025, mobile internet began to be shut down in Russian regions. The authorities claim that this is how they are protecting residents and strategically important facilities from attacks by Ukrainian drones. The shutdowns are always local and brief, lasting from a few hours to a few days. But not in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. In this region, mobile internet has been absent in some districts for more than two months. And by August, mobile service had also disappeared in some places. "Meduza" reports on this radical experimentโand how local residents have adapted to it (this experience will likely be useful to many).
The names of the interviewees have been changed for security reasons.
โOut of habit, you glance at your phone, but nothing loadsโ
Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast were prepared for several months for the fact that mobile internet would be completely shut off in some districts.
Dzerzhinsk, an industrial city 40 kilometers from Nizhny Novgorod, was one of the first to face restrictions. According to local resident Svetlana, problems with mobile internet there began back in the spring: after 10 p.m., the network would disappear throughout the city, but the signal would be restored by 8 a.m. People "didn't really complain," Svetlana tells "Meduza": firstly, the internet wasn't shut off every night, and secondly, many simply didn't notice the blockage at that time.
>>5128477532/?
"The jammers are working, it's for our safety," says Svetlana, describing her acquaintances' reaction to the internet problems.
The Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is home to many military enterprises that could be targets for Ukrainian drones. In Dzerzhinsk alone, for example, there is the Sverdlov Plant, which produces ammunition, and the Korund chemical plant. Since 2024, Ukrainian drones have attacked populated areas of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast once every few months; in the spring of 2025, reports of drone raids became much more frequent.
Mobile internet has been virtually non-existent in Dzerzhinsk since the spring of 2025. In mid-June, a shutdown occurred in the settlements around Savasleyka, and the internet never returned there. At the end of June, access to mobile internet disappeared on the left bank of Nizhny Novgorod and in Dzerzhinsk. In the latter, mobile service also disappeared around the same time, and the same happened in the settlements around Dzerzhinsk.
On the night of June 9, 2025, drones once again attacked the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. The main strikes were on the area where the "Savasleyka" military airbase is located. In the morning, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that it had disabled two Russian fighter jets (the Russian Ministry of Defense did not comment on this attack). At the same time, mobile internet stopped working in settlements within a radius of several tens of kilometers from "Savasleyka."
Unlike Dzerzhinsk, where the internet was only turned off at night at that time, in the cities of Vyksa, Kulebaki, Navashino, and other settlements near the airfield, the blockage became permanent.
>>5128477813/?
"Out of habit, you periodically glance at your phone to read the news, but nothing loads," recalls Anna, a resident of Vyksa, about the first days of the restrictions. "Suddenlyโbamโnew Telegram notifications appear, and my colleagues and I are joyful: 'Oh, look, something loaded!'" After June 9, the mobile internet for Vyksa residents was practically non-existentโit would turn on for just a few seconds. A few days later, it was turned off completely: even the single notifications of new messages in messengers that had delighted Anna and her colleagues stopped breaking through the block. "At first, people were outraged, like, 'How can this be?' But gradually it quieted down a bit," says Anna. In the two months without mobile internet, the residents of Vyksa have "more or less adapted."
In total, according to the 2021 All-Russian Population Census, about one hundred thousand people live in Vyksa, Navashino, Kulebaki, and their adjacent settlements. Local officials, the government, and the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast did not comment on the mobile internet blockage in the settlements near "Savasleyka." Major regional media outlets and Telegram channels also wrote nothing about the restrictions.
A couple of weeks after the events in "Savasleyka," on the morning of June 27, mobile internet disappeared in Dzerzhinsk (where the network was previously only shut off at night) and in Nizhny Novgorod itself. However, in the regional capital, it only stopped working on the left bank of the Oka Riverโin the part of the city called the Lower (or Zarechnaya) part.
>>5128478084/?
There were again no comments from the authorities about what was happening with the internet. Residents of the region with whom "Meduza" spoke speculated that the shutdown could be related to mass events: at the end of June, the region celebrated Youth Day and held school proms, and the XII Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia was also held there, attended by the Chairwoman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko.
On the fourth day after the mobile internet was shut off in Nizhny Novgorod, the regional government finally announced, in a convoluted way, that "as part of population security, the signal level of cellular towers, which can potentially be targeted by enemy UAVs, is periodically reduced."
The first public statement by Governor Gleb Nikitin about the mobile internet situation appeared on his "VKontakte" page only on July 4 (by which time the mobile shutdown in Vyksa had been going on for almost a month, and in Nizhny and Dzerzhinsk, the internet had been working poorly for a week):
"I personally encounter interruptions in the work of mobile communications and the internet. Yes, it is not easy and greatly complicates work."
Residents of the region were skeptical of the governor's words, which they immediately reported in the comments. The fact is that the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, where Nikitin and the government work, is located in the Upper part of the cityโthe one on the right bank of the Oka, and the mobile internet was not turned off there.
>>5128478335/?
โPeople couldnโt call an ambulance, couldnโt call utility servicesโ
Under this July post by Governor Nikitin, residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast left more than 3,600 comments in a month, although all previous posts by the head of the region usually garnered no more than fifty.
The commentators mainly criticized Nikitin for the authorities leaving people without mobile internet. In response, supporters of the governor wrote that for the sake of security, "one can endure the inconvenience," and that cellular service, which still works, is quite sufficient for a comfortable life.
However, this is far from true everywhere in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
The most dramatic cellular service outages affected residents of Dzerzhinsk and neighboring settlements. "Meduza's" interviewee Svetlana says that at the end of June and beginning of July, when the mobile shutdowns had just begun, cell phones in her neighborhood also stopped working: "People couldn't call an ambulance, couldn't call utility services. My neighbor's pipe burstโit leaked down several floors, and she couldn't call the emergency service."
A few days later, service in Dzerzhinsk was restored, but not completely: even now, a call sometimes doesn't go through on the first tryโor, for example, a connection is established, but the interlocutors can't hear each other. Svetlana believes this can be simply dangerous: "A person went into the forest for mushrooms, felt ill, or got lostโbefore you could call, send an SMS, but now we are deprived of this."
>>5128478576/?
"I haven't had any critical situations yet, but I suppose they will happen," says another Dzerzhinsk resident, Vitaly. The problems with service directly affect his life: he does renovations and must constantly be in contact with clients. Recently, Vitaly arrived at a site and couldn't get into the building, and he couldn't reach the clients by phone: "Anticipating difficulties, I now try to find out in advance about all possible alternative means of communication. For example, I find out not only where I will be working and what time the clients are there, but also where they live and when they are at home, so that if we don't meet at the site, I can try to find them somewhere else."
Almost no issues can be resolved quickly anymore, Vitaly summarizes: "Sometimes we can't get in touch with family members all dayโand everything is postponed until the evening when we meet offline."
โItโs like you have money, but you canโt buy anythingโ
Svetlana, a resident of Dzerzhinsk, compares the blockage of mobile internet and cellular service to the shutdown of electricity, gas, and water: "You get used to this resource being stable, and when you are suddenly deprived of it, panic and hysterics begin."
Svetlana does not have a physical bank card; she pays for all purchases with cash or with her smartphone, using a QR code. "I found myself in a hopeless situation: it's like you have money, but you can't buy anything," says Svetlana. Now she places online orders (using her home internet) or transfers money to acquaintances in exchange for cash.
Many stores in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast have fiber-optic internet, so mobile shutdowns theoretically do not affect trade. However, in non-chain supermarkets and small retail outlets, the internet is provided by modems or routers with a SIM card. Without mobile internet, cashiers cannot scan the "Chestny Znak" marking, and without this, they cannot sell cigarettes, alcohol, drinks, and dairy products.

>>5128478847/?
Varvara, a resident of Nizhny Novgorod, told "Meduza" that she recently noticed a sign at an Ozon order pickup point located in a residential building: employees were asking residents for access to their home Wi-Fi for a reward. On the windows of other stores, she says, other notes can sometimes be foundโthere it is explicitly stated that you can pay for purchases with a card and via QR code at that particular store.
Varvara is registered on a marketplace as a seller; she often sends packages to customers. In the summer of 2025, she says, the process became noticeably more complicated: even if the app with the list of pickup points indicates that a branch is open, it may turn out on the spot that you can neither pick up nor send a package. "If I had mobile internet, I would have re-registered the order on the go and gone to another pickup point. But as it is, I have to go back home, re-register everything, and go somewhere again, hoping for the best," she complains.
Some residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast did not have home internet installed in their apartments before the mobile internet shutdowns: there was simply no need for it. When it became clear that the blockage was dragging on, they began calling providers to request a connection to fixed-line internet. It soon became clear that the providers could not process all these requests, residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast told "Meduza": since there are not enough specialists, companies are not even ready to give an approximate date for an employee's visit.
>>5128479148/?
On job search sites and social networks, there are indeed many current vacancies in provider companies. "My [acquaintance] was told: 'Don't expect a [connection] soon, manage on your own for now'," says Anna, a resident of Vyksa. As "Meduza" found out, home internet providers in Vyksa, citing a shortage of employees, suggest leaving an application for connection and waiting for a call "no earlier than the end of September."
In Nizhny Novgorod, there seem to be no such difficulties: on the hotline of one of the largest regional providers, a "Meduza" correspondent was told that it would take a maximum of a week to install home internet.
Some residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, nevertheless, do not even hope to get home internet: if the settlements or buildings where they live are not served by any provider, there is no technical possibility for connection.
In mid-July, the authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast published a map of public internet access points. It included, for example, parks, shopping centers, banks, "My Documents" offices, and government institutions. In Nizhny and Dzerzhinsk, it is suggested to connect to Wi-Fi, among other places, at "smart" public transport stops. In reality, public internet is far from working everywhere.
Varvara from Nizhny Novgorod considers herself lucky: there is working Wi-Fi at the stop near her house. She found out about it when she saw a crowd of people at the stop glued to their phones. "It's the last stop, there are usually a maximum of a couple of people who look like they are waiting [for the bus]. But now there are always teenagers sitting there," she tells "Meduza." "Apparently, these are all the poor souls who don't have wired internet at home."
>>5128479569/?
Governor Nikitin promises that the number of public Wi-Fi spots will gradually increase. Svetlana from Dzerzhinsk is convinced that "this is not a solution": "The coverage [of one access point] is 10-20 meters, and when 20 people are sitting at one point, there's no question of any speed."
Taxi drivers constantly pull up to places with internet access pointsโthey can't get an order any other way. In the second month of the blockages, a map of Nizhny Novgorod was added to the "Yandex Pro" mobile app for "Yandex.Taxi" drivers, showing places where they can connect to free Wi-Fi. Due to internet problems, fewer drivers are on the line, so fares in Nizhny and Dzerzhinsk, according to "Meduza's" interviewees, have increased two to three times.
In Vyksa, fares have not changed, but only because taxi drivers work mainly not through aggregators that adhere to dynamic pricing, but, as the townspeople themselves say, "in the gray zone"โthrough Telegram chats where fixed prices are indicated. In such chats, passengers describe their route, drivers respond to orders, and communicate with clients in private messages.
After mobile internet disappeared in the city, messages regularly appear in taxi driver Telegram chats about a driver and passenger agreeing on a trip but being unable to find each other on the street. It is almost impossible to order a taxi by phone in Vyksa. According to "Meduza's" interviewee Anna, you sometimes have to wait an hour for a car in a city with a population of 45,000.
>>51284798110/?
Mobile shutdowns also affect public transport passengers. Dzerzhinsk residents complain that it has become more difficult for them to plan trips. "Before, you could track buses on an interactive map, but without the internet, you don't know where which bus is," says Svetlana. "You have to stand at the bus stop for 30-40 minutes like in the good old days." Local residents say on social media that public transport in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is generally unstable. Several users report in the comments that they found themselves in a situation where the last evening bus did not arrive, and they could not order a taxi due to the non-working mobile internet (they had to walk home).
Parents of schoolchildren, whose school year is about to begin, are also nervous. Many are worried about whether there will be problems with access to the electronic grade book and how to communicate with the teacher in the parent chat, according to comments in local communities.
"Everyone is already used to a different life, why go back to the stone age?" wonders Anna, a resident of Vyksa, with whom "Meduza" spoke.
Parents are even more concerned about the safety of their children. Previously, they could track their movements using special applications and make video callsโnow all this is unavailable.
โI perceive this shutdown as indefiniteโ
Svetlana from Dzerzhinsk uses the operator T2. When Svetlana realized that the mobile shutdown was dragging on, she contacted customer support and asked not to be charged the subscription fee when the network was down. The company's representatives refused Svetlana because she has no internet for reasons beyond the operator's control.

>>51284802411/?
As compensation for the inconvenience, she was given 10 gigabytes of mobile internet. This angered Svetlana even more: "What's the point of such gifts if you can't use them?" After several days of correspondence, she managed to get a 20% discount on communication services from the operator. This was the maximum concession the company was willing to make.
Varvara from Nizhny Novgorod also uses T2. After the mobile internet was blocked, she stopped paying for the operator's services: "My phone now is a dead brick that can only be used for calls. And I don't need that, I used [the mobile operator's services] only for the internet."
Vitaly, a resident of Dzerzhinsk, is a Yota subscriber. He is also dissatisfied with the company's policy: at the beginning of June, even before the mobile internet shutdown, the operator unilaterally raised the subscription fee, and when the blockages began, it did not react in any way. "Naturally, I didn't continue to pay for the non-existent internet: I just removed it from my plan, and it became 40% cheaper," says Vitaly. He believes that this is not only a way to save money but also a gesture. "People have no way to directly pressure the authorities, so it remains to pressure the mobile operatorsโmaybe [the business] will be able to have an influence," explains Vitaly. "We'll see how they survive."
"Meduza's" interviewees are convinced: they would put up with the restrictions on mobile service and the internet if they were sure that the blockages really protect their homes from drones. "You can go live in a caveโthe question is, for what?" says Anna from Vyksa. "For now, there is a suspicion that the internet shutdown is more for show, an imitation of vigorous activity on the part of the governor."

Americans don't have to larp living in a strong country, they ARE living a strong country. While pidors are like a blind man describing what colours are. It's just not possible for a russian to be convincing, they are incredibly ignorant and cannot pick up on the nuances.
>>51284806612/?
Vitaly from Dzerzhinsk reasons in much the same way: "Drones fly over my house two or three times a week, all towards the industrial zone. [But] since the internet was turned off, there have been attacks. It turns out, [the blockage] doesn't do much good."
Svetlana, who also lives in Dzerzhinsk, says that although there is no mobile internet in the city at all, service works near military enterprises. At the same time, in his official statement about "reducing the signal level of cellular towers," Governor Gleb Nikitin stated that the main task of the restrictions is to protect "industrial enterprises, strategic facilities, which are 'of interest' to the enemy." Residential neighborhoods, Nikitin assured, were only affected by the lack of service because they are located near industrial zones.
Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast also point out that GPS is not jammed in the regionโconsequently, the Ukrainian military can still guide drones by targeting this type of signal. This makes "Meduza's" interviewees doubt that the authorities' true goal is to protect the population from drones. Vitaly from Dzerzhinsk believes that the mobile shutdowns are an attempt at censorship: "They turned off the internet, less information from opposition channels reaches people's ears, more television. The population gets dumberโwell and good."
There are no documents in the public domain stating who is responsible for the mobile internet shutdown, how the blockage is technically carried out, and how long the restrictions will last, which is another reason for the residents' dissatisfaction. "Who is the initiator: the governor, some military representatives, the FSB?" wonders Svetlana. "Maybe the governor is just as much a subordinate who was given an order from above? And are there really jammersโmaybe the [mobile] operators are turning everything off themselves?"
>>512848045Looks like the cuck busted early.. Please understand, it happens to everyone sometimeโฆ
>>51284809313/13
Governor Nikitin stated that the restrictions will be in effect "as long as the threat remains." "I have no doubt that the drones will stop flying, but people will be kept without internet for more than one month, or even a year," believes Vitaly from Dzerzhinsk. Svetlana admits that "there may be no free mobile internet at all anymore," and the current restrictions, which assume that people will start using public Wi-Fi en masse, are preparation for "making access to mobile internet in principle only possible with additional authentication, for example, through Gosuslugi [state services portal]." Varvara, a resident of Nizhny Novgorod, has already stopped hoping that mobile internet will one day work again: "I perceive this shutdown as indefinite. I will pray to fiber-optic Wi-Fi."
The press services of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast government, Yandex, and Yota did not respond to "Meduza's" requests; it was not possible to contact the T2 press service.
By mid-August 2025, there is still no mobile internet in Dzerzhinsk, Vyksa, Navashino, and Kulebaki. In Nizhny Novgorod, mobile internet only works in the Upper part of the city.

Russia Says It Detained Man Plotting Car Bomb Attack Near Moscow
Russia's Federal Security Service, or FSB, said Tuesday it has detained a dual Ukrainian-Russian citizen who it claims was preparing to carry out a car bomb attack against a high-ranking military officer in the Moscow region.
The FSB's public relations center stated the 36-year-old suspect was detained on the M-4 highway while en route to the planned location of the attack. According to the agency, the man was acting on instructions from Ukrainian special services.
The security service alleges the suspect, identified by the codename "Voron" (Raven), was recruited in a third country. He was instructed via the Telegram messenger app to build a homemade bomb, which he then concealed in a vehicle purchased with funds provided by his handlers, the FSB said. The plan was to park the vehicle, laden with what Russian state media reported was over 60 kg of explosives, and detonate it as the military officer passed by.
The FSB released a video of the detained man, who stated he had fled Ukraine to avoid mobilization in 2023 and had since obtained Russian citizenship. He claimed he was offered a deferment from Ukrainian military service in exchange for carrying out the attack.
Russian authorities have opened a criminal case, and the suspect is now in custody.

Russia Mulls Flight Cuts for Foreign Airlines Over Baggage Woes
A Russian passenger rights group is lobbying the government to grant it the power to slash flight frequencies for international carriers that repeatedly fail to load baggage or provide adequate service during delays.
The All-Russian Union of Passengers (OOP) will formally propose amendments to the country's aviation laws, said Ilya Zotov, the group's head and deputy chairman of the Public Council at the Ministry of Transport. The move comes after persistent complaints against carriers, most notably Turkish Airlines and Egypt Air, which passengers accuse of systemic service failures.
The issue reached a boiling point over the weekend of August 9-10, when Turkish Airlines reportedly left behind 730 pieces of luggage on five separate flights from Antalya to Moscow. The airline has previously stated that it sometimes offloads baggage to carry extra fuel as a contingency against flight disruptions and airport closures in Russia caused by drone threats.
"Passengers are unable to get through to foreign airlines on a private basis," Zotov said, arguing that the threat of reducing flight slots would be a powerful incentive for airlines to comply with service standards. The proposed penalties would be applied for violations such as intentionally leaving baggage behind and not providing food and accommodation during long delays.
The OOP suggests implementing the measures after the current high season, either with the start of the winter schedule or from January. Russia's Ministry of Transport and the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) have so far declined to comment on the proposal. Critics of the plan warn that it is unlikely to be implemented and would ultimately harm consumers by reducing flight availability and likely leading to higher ticket prices.

Pro-Ukraine Groups to Protest Putin-Trump Summit in Alaska
A coalition of activist groups in Alaska is planning to protest the upcoming summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, arguing against hosting a leader they describe as an "international war criminal" on American soil.
The meeting, scheduled for August 15 in Anchorage, is intended to address the ongoing war in Ukraine, with Trump suggesting a potential peace deal could involve territorial swaps.
The main protest, organized by the grassroots organization Stand Up Alaska, is scheduled for August 14 in downtown Anchorage. In a statement, the group called for residents to join them to "send a clear message to both Donald Trump and Putin: Alaska stands firmly against authoritarianism." The organizers have promoted the event online with the hashtag #AlaskaStandsWithUkraine.
A separate protest is also planned in the state capital, Juneau. An organizer of that event stated, "Putin is a wanted war criminal responsible for many atrocities particularly in Ukraine including the kidnapping of thousands of children. Juneau stands with Ukraine and we condemn" his visit.
The summit has drawn international attention, with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy planning to hold talks with Trump ahead of his meeting with Putin amid concerns that Washington might broker a peace deal with unfavorable terms for Kyiv. The White House is reportedly considering inviting President Zelenskyy to Alaska as well.

Russia Weighs Delaying 2% Mortgage Program for Soldiers, Citing Market Risks
Reports have emerged that the Russian government is considering a significant delay to a planned 2% mortgage program for military personnel participating in the Special Military Operation (SVO), amid concerns from regulators about its potential impact on the housing market.
According to a report from the Brooella Telegram channel, the proposed launch of the subsidized lending program may be postponed until 2026. The delay is reportedly driven by a warning from Russia's Central Bank, which has cautioned that the program's terms could destabilize the market.
The Central Bank has previously highlighted the "Far Eastern Mortgage" program as a cautionary example, where similar subsidies are said to have contributed to sharp housing price inflation. Concerns for the SVO-specific program reportedly include the potential for property developers to artificially inflate prices and for banks to introduce undisclosed fees.
The program, which offers a highly preferential 2% interest rate, was first expected to launch in the summer of 2025 before being tentatively moved to the autumn. Government sources cited in the report did not rule out the possibility of further postponements. The initiative is part of a broader set of social support measures for soldiers and their families.

Ukrainian Drone Strikes Halt Three Russian Refineries, Squeezing Fuel Supply
Ukrainian drone attacks have halted or severely reduced operations at three Russian oil refineries since the beginning of August, including a full shutdown at the Saratov refinery, raising concerns about domestic fuel supplies during a period of peak seasonal demand.
The Saratov refinery, a Rosneft-owned facility with a capacity of about 140,000 barrels per day (bpd), suspended oil intake after being struck by drones on Sunday, a source familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The plant is the third major refinery to be impacted by drone attacks this month.
On August 2, drone strikes hit the Novokuibyshevsk refinery in the Samara region and the Ryazan refinery. The Novokuibyshevsk facility, also owned by Rosneft, completely halted processing after its main crude distillation unit was damaged.
The Ryazan refinery, another key Rosneft asset, was forced to shut down two of its primary processing units, cutting its production by approximately half.
The disruptions come as Russia faces a seasonal rise in fuel consumption. The shutdowns risk tightening the domestic gasoline market, where wholesale prices for the benchmark AI-95 grade have already surged to record highs, exceeding 77,000 rubles per tonne. The price increase has persisted despite a government ban on gasoline exports, which market participants say has been ineffective due to exemptions for Eurasian Economic Union countries.
Rosneft's press service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The attacks underscore Ukraine's growing capability to strike deep into Russian territory, targeting critical infrastructure that supports the country's economy and military. The Saratov refinery is a key supplier of fuel products, and its prolonged outage could have a significant impact on the market.

Messengers Experience Call Failures Amid Blocking Tests
Users of Telegram and WhatsApp across Russia began experiencing widespread problems with voice and video calls on August 11, which sources in the telecom market attribute to selective test blockings of the services. While telecom operators maintain their networks are functioning normally, they concede the disruptions could be due to external causes.
The issues, which primarily affect calls made over mobile internet, have been documented by services like Downdetector, which recorded over 8,000 complaints for Telegram and 5,000 for WhatsApp in a 24-hour period. A source told Kommersant that tests to block calls on these platforms may have begun as early as August 1. Representatives for major operators including MTS, Megafon, Beeline, and Tele2 have largely declined to comment, though Megafon stated there were no restrictions on its side.
The disruptions coincide with a push from telecom operators and security services to curb rampant fraud conducted through these platforms. Experts note that fraudulent calls now constitute up to 40% of all call traffic on messengers. Operators have lobbied for a ban on calls from foreign messenger services, arguing it would combat cyber fraud and terrorism without requiring a full block of the applications. Financial institutions reportedly support the initiative, as their anti-fraud systems are ineffective against messenger-based scams.
The discussions about restricting messenger calls have been ongoing, with authorities citing the need to protect citizens from bullying, extremism, and telephone terrorism. Roskomnadzor, the state communications regulator, has not officially commented on whether it is currently blocking calls.
WhatsApp is owned by Meta, which is designated as an extremist organization and banned in Russia.

Romania Suspects Russian Sabotage in Oil Contamination, Declares Energy Emergency
1/?
Romanian authorities are investigating the possibility of a Russian "hybrid operation" after a major shipment of Azerbaijani crude oil destined for Europe was found to be contaminated with highly corrosive organic chlorides, a development that has forced Romania to declare a state of emergency for its oil supply.
The contamination, discovered in late July, prompted the rejection of a 184,000-tonne shipment of oil at the Romanian port of Constanศa, causing a raw material shortage at the OMV Petrom-operated Petrobrazi refinery. In response, Romania's Ministry of Energy on August 4 authorized the release of 80,000 tonnes of crude oil and 30,000 tonnes of diesel fuel from its national emergency reserves to ensure the refinery's continued operation.
Sources cited by Romanian news outlet G4Media suggest the contamination may have been a deliberate act of sabotage on the 1,700-kilometer-long Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which transports oil from Azerbaijan to the Turkish port of Ceyhan for shipment to Europe. The sources claim that such an operation would be "relatively simple," requiring the injection of several tankers of chlorine into the pipeline. The high concentration of chlorides could have caused catastrophic damage to refinery equipment and triggered a fuel crisis in Romania.
The first reports of contamination emerged on July 22, with several European energy companies, including Austria's OMV, Italy's Eni, and the Czech Republic's Orlen Unipetrol, reporting that they had received tainted crude. BP, a shareholder in and operator of the BTC pipeline, acknowledged a "potential quality issue" and stated it was assessing the crude in all its facilities along the pipeline.

>>512850052Pick up your balls king and let's go kill ruskis.
>>5128501352/2
The pipeline operator, BTC Pipeline Company, confirmed that several storage tanks at the Ceyhan terminal were contaminated with a corrosive substance.
While no direct proof of Russian involvement has been presented, the incident occurs amid heightened geopolitical tensions. Russian state-affiliated media have deflected blame, with some commentators suggesting the United States could be responsible.
Organic chlorides are sometimes used to boost extraction from oil fields but must be removed before transport as they can severely damage pipelines and refining machinery. This incident is reminiscent of a 2019 event when 5 million tonnes of Russian crude were contaminated with organic chlorides in the Druzhba pipeline, leading to major disruptions and compensation claims.
By July 31, BP reported that the flow of uncontaminated crude through the BTC pipeline had resumed. However, the disruption has already impacted supply volumes, with July flows averaging 423,000 barrels per day against a planned 561,000 bpd, according to data from Kpler.
