Russia Ramps Up Scrutiny of UAE Assets as Tax Pact Takes Hold

Russia's Federal Tax Service is intensifying its examination of bank accounts and companies held by its citizens in the United Arab Emirates, a move that lawyers and consultants say signals the end of a "sluggish" era of information sharing between the two nations.
The increased scrutiny is driven by the implementation of a comprehensive Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and a more robust, "regular and voluminous" automatic exchange of financial information. The new DTAA, signed in February 2025 and ratified by Russia in July, is expected to be fully operational by January 2026, pending ratification by the UAE. This agreement replaces a more limited 2011 pact and is designed to prevent tax evasion by individuals and companies operating in both jurisdictions.
The formal framework for automatic information exchange has existed since 2018, but sources report a recent and significant escalation in its practical application. Russian tax authorities are now receiving more detailed data on accounts held by Russian residents, including those who are beneficiaries of UAE-based companies, which are considered Controlled Foreign Corporations (CFCs) under Russian law and are subject to taxation in Russia.
Tax consultants are warning of a coming "wave of claims" and predict a surge in official inquiries in 2026. "We can expect a significant increase in inquiries from tax authorities to our compatriots, the uncovering of their foreign companies and accounts, and the lodging of claims," said Sergey Nazarkin, a partner at NSV Consulting.
The firm has already seen more FNS claims related to undeclared UAE assets in the first half of 2025 than in all of 2024. Experts estimate that up to a third of companies and half of personal accounts established by Russians in the UAE may not be properly declared, placing their owners in a high-risk category for audits and tax liabilities.

An indefinite ceasefire without deployment of EU / NATO forces into the country is just a chance for Russia to rebuild and rearm for a renewed offensive.
You would have to do a Korea-type resolution to actually freeze the frontline and ensure Russia can't just pick up where it left off a year later.

Russian Lawmaker Accuses Azerbaijan of Covert Arms Supply to Ukraine, Warns Baku

1/2

A senior Russian lawmaker has accused Azerbaijan of already supplying Ukraine with weapons through intermediary countries and warned that any overt military aid to Kyiv would be treated by Moscow as a legitimate military target.
Konstantin Zatulin, the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, made the allegations in comments to the RTVI news outlet. "According to certain data, they have already carried out these supplies—of shells and other things—through intermediaries, meaning Azerbaijan has not seriously restricted itself in this regard," Zatulin said.
The lawmaker's comments were a reaction to reports in Azerbaijani media that Baku might lift its embargo on weapons sales to Ukraine. This followed a phone call between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which they condemned recent Russian strikes on Azerbaijani energy assets in Ukraine, including a SOCAR oil depot in the Odesa region and a gas compressor station. An Azerbaijani media outlet, Caliber.az, citing sources, reported that if such attacks continue, Baku would consider ending its ban on arms shipments to Ukraine.
Zatulin downplayed the potential impact of direct supplies. "Much more heavily armed countries supply weapons to Ukraine, and yet it doesn't help Ukraine in any way in the current situation. So I think Azerbaijan's threats are unlikely to affect us," he stated, adding a direct warning that any such support would be considered a military target.

Azerbaijan has officially maintained a position of not providing military aid to Ukraine, stating it only sends humanitarian assistance and equipment like electricity generators. In July, an aide to President Aliyev explicitly denied any military component transfers. However, President Aliyev has also affirmed that energy cooperation with Ukraine will continue despite the attacks on related infrastructure. On August 11, Aliyev ordered $2 million in humanitarian aid to be sent to Ukraine for the purchase of electrical equipment produced in Azerbaijan.
Russian officials have previously noted Baku's official denials of arms transfers. Zatulin, however, framed the issue as Russia having previously overlooked Baku's actions. "We could have asked: for how long will Azerbaijan, which still maintains friendly relations with Russia, supply Ukraine with strategic raw materials... we never asked this question, and we should have," he told RTVI. "We turned a blind eye to Azerbaijan's antics."

Russia Summons Oil Chiefs as Drone Attacks Send Gasoline Prices to Record Highs

The Russian government has called an emergency meeting with the nation's top oil companies for August 14 to address a surge in domestic gasoline prices, which have hit historic highs following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks that crippled several major refineries.
Wholesale prices for benchmark Ai-95 gasoline on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange have soared 47% since the start of the year, setting new records for five consecutive days and crossing the 80,000 ruble ($870) per-tonne mark on Friday. The price rally is squeezing independent gas stations, which are now reporting losses on every liter sold, and is outpacing inflation, with retail fuel prices up 11% year-on-year against an 8.2% consumer price index, according to Rosstat data.
The crisis has been fueled by drone strikes that have partially or fully halted production at three key refineries since the beginning of August.[4] A strike on August 2 shut down the Novokuibyshevsk refinery and halved capacity at the Ryazan refinery, a critical supplier for the Moscow region. On August 10, an attack forced the Saratov refinery to suspend operations.
The government, led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, is set to discuss measures to stabilize the market. Proposals include raising the mandatory exchange sales quota for gasoline from 15% to 17% and potentially extending a ban on gasoline exports. Officials are also reportedly considering radical interventions, such as imposing price caps on the exchange if monthly price increases exceed 10%.

Russia's Logistics Sector Faces 1 Million Worker Shortfall

Russia's logistics industry is grappling with a severe labor shortage, with an estimated deficit of one million workers, according to market insiders. The shortfall spans the critical segments of transportation, warehousing, and supply chain management.
The most acute labor shortages are concentrated in major economic hubs, including Moscow and its surrounding region, St. Petersburg, and the Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, and Rostov regions, as well as the Republic of Tatarstan.[
Data from August indicates the most sought-after positions are truck drivers, order pickers, logistics managers, warehouse workers, and movers. This demand has placed the logistics sector among the top five industries in Russia facing the most significant personnel needs.
The current labor deficit is seen by some experts as a consequence of the industry's boom in 2023-2024, which was fueled by the rapid growth of e-commerce marketplaces and increased warehouse activity. An increase in domestic trade and exports, alongside a large-scale modernization of logistics infrastructure—including the construction of new hubs and automation of warehouses—has also contributed to the high demand for workers.
Despite the high demand for labor, a significant portion of the industry has faced financial hardship. At the beginning of the year, nearly a third of logistics companies were reportedly on the verge of bankruptcy due to rising costs and other factors. Between January and March, it was reported that one in five transport companies had exited the market, and approximately 30% of freight carriers had ceased operations entirely.

You are correct. The slaughter is not indiscriminate. It is highly specific and quantifiable.
According to the intelligence briefing given to President Trump, for every one Ukrainian soldier killed, Russia loses fourteen.
That is the definition of "cannon fodder."
Ukrainians are dying to avoid being conquered by a state that uses its own men as disposable biomass to gain a few meters of ruined land.

You obsess over a hypothetical future of non-white immigration into Ukraine.
Let's discuss the factual present. Russia is executing the largest replacement of a white population in modern history. Putin is importing hundreds of thousands of Central Asian and Indian migrants to backfill the demographic crater left by sending his Slavic men to die in trenches. He uses Chechen and Buryat shock troops as the vanguard to kill other Slavs.
If your goal was to destroy the white race by flooding its heartland with non-whites and forcing its men into a fratricidal meatgrinder, you would do exactly what Putin is doing.
You are not supporting a savior. You are supporting the most effective agent of the Great Replacement in the world today.

Russia's 'Shadow Fleet' Swells to 1,140 Tankers Amid Sanctions Pressure

1/2

The fleet of tankers used to transport Russian, Iranian, and Venezuelan oil in circumvention of international sanctions has expanded to 1,140 vessels, growing by an average of 30 ships per month since December 2024. This "shadow fleet" now constitutes 18.2% of the global oil tanker tonnage, according to a new report from shipbroking firm BRS.
Western sanctions have intensified, with 886 tankers, or 78% of the shadow fleet, now blacklisted, a dramatic increase from 191 vessels a year ago. These sanctioned ships represent nearly 9% of the entire global oil tanker fleet. The growth of the fleet is expected to be further fueled by the EU's recent decision in mid-July to lower the price cap on Russian crude to $47.60 per barrel, a move likely to push more shipments into the legally opaque network.
A defining characteristic of the shadow fleet is its advanced age, posing significant environmental risks. The average age of these vessels is 20.2 years, compared to 15 years for the mainstream commercial fleet. This age gap is widening as owners find it more profitable to sell older tankers into the shadow market rather than scrapping them. Since the start of the year, 180 tankers over 15 years old and larger than 34,000 deadweight tons have been sold for further operation, while only 16 were sent for demolition. Many of these ships operate with questionable insurance coverage, raising alarms about liability in case of spills or accidents.

2/2

The United States and its allies have ramped up efforts to counter this network. Since late 2023, the U.S., followed by the UK and EU in 2024, has been sanctioning individual vessels. These measures have had some effect, with sanctioned ships initially lying idle, though many have resumed operations. In a recent move to tighten regulations, Panama announced it would stop registering oil tankers and bulk carriers over 15 years of age, a policy aimed at curbing its role as a flag of convenience for the shadow fleet.

Despite these efforts, analysts at BRS suggest that aggressive sanction policies may inadvertently be driving the fleet's growth by pushing more operators into the illicit market. The key question facing the industry is the fate of this fleet should sanctions on Russia, Iran, or Venezuela be eased. The experience in 2025 has shown that mainstream tankers quickly return to routes once they become commercially viable and compliant.

Russia Vows to Build 'Balanced' Navy for Global Operations Amid NATO Tensions

Russia is actively building a "balanced" navy capable of operating in any part of the world's oceans to protect its national interests, according to Nikolai Patrushev, an aide to the President and Chairman of the Maritime Collegium. The statement comes on the first anniversary of the Collegium's formation, a body created to coordinate Russia's national maritime policy.
Speaking to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta," Patrushev emphasized that Russia, as a leading maritime power, must implement a consistent and forward-looking naval policy, especially in light of what he described as growing military threats from NATO countries in the Baltic, the Black Sea, and the Arctic.
The push includes a comprehensive modernization effort backed by long-term strategic documents. A shipbuilding program through 2050 is nearing completion, which complements the already approved "Strategy for the Development of the Navy until 2050." These plans define the future composition of the fleet and its tasks in both peace and wartime. An updated strategy for the shipbuilding industry to 2035 is also being finalized, focusing on import substitution and digital technologies.

European Union foreign ministers held emergency talks on Monday to formulate a unified response to the upcoming summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The talks, held via video conference, were convened by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas to address the meeting scheduled for Friday, August 15, in Alaska.
European leaders are seeking to coordinate their position ahead of the summit, where Trump and Putin are expected to discuss the war in Ukraine. Fears have grown in European capitals that a bilateral deal could be struck without their input, potentially compromising Ukrainian and European security interests.
To ensure alignment, EU leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are scheduled to hold a virtual meeting with President Trump on Wednesday, August 13. The Wednesday discussions were initiated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and will include leaders from several EU member states and the head of NATO. The goal is to present a united front and discuss red lines before Trump meets with Putin.

Global plastics treaty negotiations are on the brink of collapse just two days before their deadline, as deep divisions persist between nations over whether to cap plastic production.
Delegates from 184 countries gathered in Geneva for the final round of talks, which began on August 5 and are scheduled to conclude on Thursday. The negotiations aim to finalize a landmark legally binding treaty to address the full lifecycle of plastic, from production to disposal.
The talks, which are the culmination of a nearly three-year process, have become deadlocked. The primary point of contention pits a "High Ambition Coalition" of more than 100 countries, including the European Union and many Latin American nations, against a group of "like-minded" petrostates, including Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
The High Ambition Coalition is demanding binding global targets to reduce the production of new plastics, arguing it is the only way to tackle the root of the pollution crisis. In contrast, the opposing bloc insists the treaty should focus solely on downstream measures like waste management and recycling, while rejecting any limits on production.
As of Monday evening, the draft text was riddled with nearly 1,500 bracketed sections indicating unresolved disagreements, a fivefold increase from the previous negotiating session in Busan, South Korea, which also ended in a stalemate.
"With four more days to go, we have more square brackets in the text than plastic in the sea," EU Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall said on Monday. "We cannot miss this historic opportunity."

As i said, they've tried this same scheme as back in the 90s - massive government spending fueled by the central bank printing money and "loaning" it to commercial banks to buy gov debt, that doesn't get repaid and it all leads to hyperinflation and bank runs. The solution was a massive cut in the gov budget and years of high unemployment. The think that dragged Russia out of the quagmire was the price of oil going from 7 to 30 in the early 2000s, and unrestrained capitalism of the Yeltsin era.

I am probably leaving factory work myself soonish, so yeah. lil buddy, if he wants to work, will enjoy quite good money for a few years at the very least. With senior technician in his CV, he can fuck away to any other company after 3-5 years. I hope he appreciates the chance.

You dismiss "meetings" and "speeches" as bullshit subterfuge.
The upcoming "meeting" in Alaska is happening for one reason: President Trump targeted Russia's last economic lifeline by imposing crippling tariffs on India for its role in financing the war.
That "bullshit" is a direct act of economic warfare that threatens to bankrupt the Russian state. It is the application of superior economic power to achieve a military objective. You mistake grand strategy for political theater because you are incapable of understanding it.

that's a shitty excuse and you know. the only thing that it shows is that we are weak and built on paper, and it seems like other countries are aware of it. we should sell our stuff to western part of europe, but we are being ruled by cucks, so everyone else will make money here, and we will be smiling and waving hands, because we are oblivious to what we have and our potential. Recently we found some oil in our area of sea (AFAIR). First thing that happened? Germany had reservations and we silently let it die. We will not dig it, we will not do any research, instead we will allow others to do it, because apparently it's not profitable and Ukraine who suffered the most after communism, apparently had no post-communism baggage (that's the word you were looking for).

I'm not even mad, it was to be expected

You do realize that Bandera "worship" is reactive? Like it makes ziggers assmad and that's why it happens. There are probably unironic banderists like there are unironic Polish suprematists, but you immediately assume that literally every Ukie will start murdering Polish infants any second now, while Poland is a fucking lifeline for Ukraine. And remember, this whole shitshow started because Ukraine wanted European integration in the first place and genocidal mania is the polar opposite to that. God damn it, stop listening to konfunia Jews you gullible retard.

Don't praise bander the bald cuck in Poland and you will be all right. I am seriously worried about it, because we have bad blood in the past, and we don't know when it will explode, because neither Poland nor Ukraine dealt with it. Instead it festers like a sore. If we want to be good neighbors, we both need to respect each other. I don't have problem with Ukrainians, despite my family being survivors of what UPA did in Wołyń, but Ukrainians cannot have resentment over UPA/Bandera narrative. Don't believe them, because they are poisonous.

Instead, we are trying to rationalize their chauvinism. I don't want to start a historical discussion, but I'm not happy about how these people behave here, and I don't think we should find thousand of excuses for such behavior. And I'm not talking about littering, I'm talking about promoting people who were murdering our nation. Trump said his next meeting will be with Zelensky — or with both Zelensky and Putin — and that he’ll try to return some territory to Ukraine. He claimed to get along with Zelensky but “severely disagrees” with him, and criticized the idea that Kyiv needs constitutional approval for any land deal. Trump insisted there will be territorial exchanges and shifts in front lines, saying they could bring “good things” for Ukraine, though also downsides for both sides.

This is the problem of Ukranian patriotism movement. You are attracted to low-intellectual creatures instead of gaining experience from someone who has proven their knowledge and skills in practice.
A friendly reminder that: the internal political fragmentation of the UNR was one of the main reasons the republic was unable to maintain stability or resist external enemies. This fragmentation involved deep divisions over ideology, national identity, governance, land reform, and the use of violence - among both civilian leaders and military factions.

While a similar factory in Germany is already complete, progress in Ukraine is stalled. Papperger says Kyiv now wants to double capacity at the first plant, but larger projects are stuck due to lack of funding.

As attackers, the Russians are out in the open far more often than Ukrainian soldiers. Combine this fact with the fact or their vodka-addled commanders' retard tactics and you can easily see why the ratio of 14:1 is likely an understatement. Throw in the thousands of Russian suicides from those that realize that their situation is hopeless (no medic support, zero chance of obtaining anything even remotely positive from your advance) also push the ratio in Ukraine's favor.

This breakthrough north of Pokrovsk day by day looks worse.

We are talking about the infiltration of small groups of soldier in the many blind spots of Ukrainian lines due to a critical lack of infantry. This groups that have been wrongly named DRGs consist mostly of regular infantry that infiltrate enemy lines in small groups hoping to avoid detection and making their killing uneconomical by many means such as artillery. Once they get thought they accumulate in the rear until they are enough to actually hold and assault the rear positions of the enemy. Ukrainian command initially thought they were DRGs, but after a few days of continual DRGs it became apparent this was not the case. Only morons who thinks Russian soldiers want to die would think Russian DRGs are commanded to "infiltrate until you die".

Russians first used this tactic in Pokrovsk itself, where they have positions in the Western part of the city making supplying the rest of the city and Myrnograd hell from the West. They also did the same in the north between Rodyns'ke and Bylens'ke cutting the northern supply route, so as of this moment Pokrovsk and Myrnograd can not be supplied effectively. But in the last few days they struck gold further north where they have advances up to 20 km deep. This is so deep Ukrainian drone teams can't readh the infiltrated infantry without repositioning making their task a lot easier. As of this moment the breaktrough keeps spanding. That said all the soldiers in that breakthough are extremely vulnerable to an Ukrainian proper counterattack.

The next couple of days will be critical for the battle of Dombas. If Ukraine manages to contain the breakthrough, it will merely underscore the dire state of its infantry - ominous for the future, but with no immediate strategic consequences. If it fails, however, Donbas could be split in two: one sector leading toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk (with Konstantynivka trapped in a deep cauldron) and another toward Dnipro. Worse still, Ukraine’s last defensive lines in Donbas would be breached, drastically reducing their effectiveness. This would trigger immediately some of the most untenable sectors to collapse, forcing a chaotic retreat under fire - further stretching Ukraine’s already overextended front and exacerbating its infantry shortages.

Would Ukraine be able to set up a proper new front? The fron may look very different in a matter of days just like it did back 2022 after Kharkivs offensive.

Ukraine and Czechia will expand cooperation in weapons production, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said. >Bandera is a bald cuck, even Petlura is more of a Washington than bandera.
I don't argue with it. The point is that Bandera is the most hyped up person in the Ukrainian media and government propaganda engines. The ukie government can't just reject his legacy because it's risking to deal with huge backslash from people, especially soldiers.
In my opinion it would be great to reach consensus with Poland about mutual refusal of past nationalist practices. But as we see both countries are not going to risk local politics, comforting someone abroad.

I want to believe that this is only a stage in your national consciousness. That you are still finding your way. Our politics react to what people are whispering. The truth is, we were the first to offer Ukraine the helping hand. Many Polish people who don't know history or politics felt as if these Ukrainians were ungrateful and mean (can't find a more adult word to describe it).

Like I said before, I'm not afraid of jobs, especially that Ukrainians are doing really good work, and it's not a pleb job, but serious work. I am however afraid that if there is a crisis, the national sentiment will rise. Both in Polish people and Ukrainian. Polish people are very peaceful. Ukrainians can be very aggressive, you can disagree with it, but that's how I see it. And that's why I am worried, because I can see Polish people being victims again. And I want to avoid that. Maybe I am overreacting, but when I see a red flag, I'd rather to start a discussion instead of pretending that everything is okay. It's not okay, but hopefully, we can work it out. Also, Ukraine will need people after the war, you need to rebuild it, and it would be bad if majority of people abandoned Ukraine, so there's that as well. We went through that and it was disastrous when 3 million of Polish people went to germany and england

we are not stealing money since 2015. As a matter of fact, we weren't stealing money, because EU is a pyramid scheme. Let me give you an example. recently, we have a shitstorm here about KPO - a fund that was formed by countries to help after the pandemic of 2020

Here's how it works. There are rules - you have to pay money from your own budget first, and then, the EU will either refund it, or not, depending on the whim. And let's see what gets funded or not

Hospital = NO X
Schools = NO X
Roads = NO X
Gay Bars = YES V
Swinger club (seriously) = YES V
Yacht = YES V

when Poland was good at trucks and drivers, france introduced laws that attacked Polish trucks and drivers. To be honest, joining EU is good for having political immunity, because you are untouchable, but it's bad if you want to develop.

And make no mistake, before you are allowed to join, they will create thousand of problems that woill destroy your companies. We had the best factory creating sugar = destroyed because it offended germans. I am sometimes really amazed that Poland still exists, because when you look at what was happening to us, it defies any logic. Any other countries would cease to exist if it suffered 1/10 of what we suffered. But this you should understand, because you also suffered and yet, you exist. And I hope you will continue to exist. We might not be buddies, but we can respect each other

Nigger, KPO was a huge program and now you complain about HoReCa part which was in fact designed shitty and, additionally, was a percent of the whole program. Fucking God. There were segments for cultural sector, for hospitals and there are also other programs running separately for things like roads and shit. This one was to mitigate effects of post-covid recession, you get money for roads from shit like RPO, fuck, I don't even know.

ah yeah, it was only a percent. Don't worry the 99% will also be investigated, I am curious to see what hides there. Hospitals got rejected and the are underfunded and you know that. Separate programs don't heal the problem that is Polish healthcare. This money was already spent. Whether it will be refunded, will depend on EU, they might approve it, or not. And they are promoting germany-owned eco-tech, not hospitals, not roads, or other stuff.

So tl;dr we spent money, we don't know if it'll be refunded

Just as Orban sold out to Putin for Rubles, American governmental leaders in the past as well as CEOs/Board members, sold out the American people by letting the US manufacturing base shift to SE Asia for Dollars.

Trump is trying to fix this. I know that you don't like Trump, but he genuinely is trying to save the US Republic.
