Except the don't *need* them, some people just *want* them for aesthetic reasons. Only 55% of trans people report taking hormones, which is just above half of the population - meaning the other half just rawdog it, because gender, sex, and physical aesthetics are not entirely related things.
Half of troons are totally fine being a dude with a dick walking around claiming to be a roastie. Others are perverts who take hormones to look like a woman for sexual gratification purposes, it's been best described to me as a kink - they want to be feminine. The venn diagram because transmen who take hormones, and transmen who regularly take dick up the ass while moaning, is a circle.
