There's an old guy like this at my job. He's like 71. Never been married or had any kids. He just bought a brand new AMG mercedes. His house looks impeccable because he spends all his time maintaining it and not much else. So the guy will literally spend $10,000 to get some marble from a village in Italy, then another $5000 to cut it for a single countertop. He tells me these specific details all the time, because I'm his only friend. He invites me out to pool pretty much every weekend.
