I called it during covid, we are at the point where the real economy is divorced from stocks. There is no actual valuation for stocks based on reality anymore, just feelings and numbers for rich ppl to trade money around to each other while siphoning corporate profits. Oligarchs looting.
It was the same under Biden, honestly. Hyper inflation, everything going to shit, Democrats saying it's a good thing because stonks go up.
Now it's the same shit, except the Republicans are in charge and everybody now needs to switch sides because faction loyalty is more important than opening our fucking eyeballs.
It's pretty clear that America is just a whale fall. You know what a whale fall is? When a whale dies, sinks to the bottom of the sea, and then all the nasty hagfish and various creatures come and eat it's fuckign carcass.
America is the whale, the rich are eating the carcass, and then telling us this is good actually because the richest and cuntiest have full bellies.

Money velocity is more important desu, though that seems to have hit a peak 2 quarters ago and has gone down again recently.
For post-covid the M2 money velocity peaked at 1.389 in Q4 last year and is down to 1.385 in Q2. It's above Q2 2024 but below Q3. Prior to Covid it was a pretty consistent decline Q3 2010s post-depression peak of 1.744 down to 1.437 in Q4 2019.

Do you think a store would sell you anything if they didn't get a profit margin out of each sale? No, that would be retarded

Trump is hell bent on killing the dollar and pumping assets, the whole kerfuffle over the NBER dude getting fired is because we're heading into Bagdad Bob levels of fake Gov economic numbers. Trump is wild man, I mean he's gone full conman this term. Also if you were watching Stonk futures this morning, the CPI was leaked to insiders just prior to the CPI being released and they pumped Q's and SPY. This admin is probably one of the worse I've seen when it comes to insider trading, it's fucking wild. Yet he doesn't get called out on it because the big club is in on it.

They don't seem to grasp that Trump's tariffs, as he wants to implement them, are effectively a regressive sales tax that disproportionately affects the poor
Which is the entire reason they moved from tariffs to income tax, so those who earned more (and thus had more disposable income and financial stability) paid more

Trump touts that we're seeing trillions in tariff revenue from taxing us, but yet it barely covers 1/3rd of the interest payments on our debt last month. This shit is unsustainble man, and the easy way out is to always debase the currency and that's precisely what we're doing. All the status quo economists are cheering that we're back down to not even the FED's 2% target, and yet the next easing cycle is about to start. I mean holy shit this is going to be a dumpster fire.

Charge importers on the products they import. This discourages them from over-buying a foreign product because it's cheap. It encourages domestic sellers to find alternative products from within the US, or from countries without tariffs. And ultimately, pays the public coffer as a kind of penance for purchasing from outside and allowing money to exit the American economy.

Stock earnings are the major driver for investors. Your grocery bill or lack of employment has nothing to do with me buying a stock. In fact if you lose your job to AI it improves the margins of that stock making it more lucrative.

CEOs will reduce the value of labor to ZERO if possible. This wont end well but it is what it is. Regulation wont stop it either as the GDP would suffer.

I didn't address what you said because it doesn't make sense
Countries put tariffs on SPECIFIC markets and goods to protect their local industries, which could get overwhelmed by competition from foreign bodies otherwise, which could threaten the stability of the entire nation in some cases
This is NOT the case with Trump's tariffs, which are applied to ALL imported goods and are based NOT on the tariffs the other country has on the US but on the trade deficit
The other country is obviously not going to just eat the loss, so they raise prices to match the tariff, as they have already done, to pass the loss onto the end consumer
All this means is that the government is effectively taxing everyone who buys any imported goods, which in the US is basically everyone
