We are coming up on the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina that killed an almost 2,000 US civilians and triggered the largest mass migration of Americans since the 1930's. What do you remember most from this tragedy?
I visited New Orleans in 2015, 10 years after the fact and saw bare concrete foundations in the lower 9th ward where houses once stood. Eerie and sad is all I can remember the feelings I had at the time. My friend in New Orleans who also lived in Slidell showed me where the levees had breached. I don't know if the levees and canal walls have been reinforced but he had mentioned that they could only withstand a Cat 3 Hurricane at most at the time.
This is an event is US history I won't ever forget just like 9/11. Everyone always talks about 9/11 but never Hurricane Katrina.
