What is this "very specific" meaning of interview? Interview simply means asking questions to get information. Furthermore, the denial of turning over devices or "anything else" would make it impossible not to perjure himself if he was a fed. When someone decides to become an asset for law enforcment, in the vast majority of cases it's because the authorities have something on them and they hold it over them. In a lot of cases they want them to be a confidential informant and help tip them off for stuff that is very illegal going on. The hint would be in the name and it defeats the whole purpose if everyone and their mother knows he is in regular contact with the FBI and is informing them of any illegal stuff, not even the dumbest retard in his discord or telegram will be running their mouth in that case. That kind of thing is beyond party politics. So whether it happened under Trump or Biden is irrelevant.

This model of "take a deal to be a snitch or go to jail" isn't just an American thing, it's even used here. Just a couple of months ago a guy was arrested for selling guns illegally in his shed. There is no way the garda would've caught onto it unless they had a network of snitches. They can never reveal such people because it means the organised crime (e.g. drug dealers) would just kill them.

The reason Trump hasn't released the Epstein files is presumably that it would in some way be costly for him to do so, embarassing information about him might be exposed or whatever. The case with Fuentes is extremely different, it would be extremely easy and incur no cost. He would silence a critic, score an easy win and distract from the Epstein scandal.
