Is getting tax free money from government for the rest of you life based or cringe? I'm thinking of going for PTSD or something mental. Is this worth going for?

Anyone have experience with this?

My coworker who was in the reserve for less than 2 years before he stopped showing up and got a general discharge got 70% for something mental. He never did anything

You should enlist to get skills in a safeish job, and to legitimately qualify for some degree of VA disability from normal wear & tear on your body due to aging.

The ideal plan is enlist to be electrician in navy, do 4 years, get out, use education benefits at a community college skillmaxxing in manufacturing tech, coding, automation, 3d printing, welding, machining, & electronics manufacturing.

Then reenlist in a different mos yo skillmax some more, get out, stay a reservist or guardsman for 20 years to pensionmax.

I get a total of $70K per year from combine VA and SSA benefits but I am really fucked up. My back fucking hurt from rotting in bed 20 hours per day for years. The most I have done in years was fly to another country for few weeks to visit a gf I met online but she dumped me and I can’t handle it. My life is nothing but eating, hitting, pissing (often in bottles), sleeping (kinda), and surfing the Internet. Sure, I am a landlord due to my VA mortgage and I bank a lot of money because I don’t leave the house much except to eat, this isn’t a good life.
Yes, most vets work while receiving benefits (which is not legally prohibited).

A soldier should be paid for their work, but I see no reason to pay them for being injured in that line of work. This would be very solvable if soldiers were paid an honest wage, if a black water contractor is making $250k/year, I see no reason a soldier shouldn't be paid the same or better. If you get your leg blown off after 3 years and have earned $750k, you're in need of a pension a lot less. It is always best to put the money closest to the one who earns it.

For more information see how your social security payments, had you invested them into basically anything over the duration of your career, you'd earn a much higher pay out at "retirement age", than letting the government manage your funds...also, look at how the feds raid the post office pension when they hit their budget limit! Looool, we're a 3rd world with 1st class paint jobs.

I'm currently at 80% trying to get to 100%. Prepare yourself mentally for the long haul. Think of it like a part time job. Hire help to help if you have to. This isn't a simple in and out process. This shit took me a long time. Way longer than I thought it would take. Its basically a lawsuit. If you've ever been involved in a lawsuit, you know how unbelievably long it can take and how much bullshit you have to do before you see even $1. I want to say it took me a solid 15 to get through all the doctors appointments, do all my statements, get my initial claim filed, and get back the decision. My first claim was for 60% and they denied everything else. Its been about 2 years of appealing and refiling shit to get to 80%.

If you manage to put together some psychosomatic debilitating pain in the knee plus chronic depression you can get a good deal and it's relatively easy to act. You don't even need to act if you avoid sleeping for a couple days before the interviews.
