Why are amusement parks dying? It doesn't make any sense. The US population keeps growing. The parks are more crowded than ever. Prices are higher than ever. And yet every single park now is running at a loss. Back in the 90s, these parks had a fraction of the crowds they do today, and were reporting boatloads of cash.

No one is having kids. Terrible park operations (intentionally long lines by running rides at lower capacity to sell front of the line passes and save on maintenance). Quality of employees nosediving due to inflation/not being able to attract decent talent due to poverty wages. They overextended in the 2000s building too many big new rides and now they can only afford the occasional shorter, smaller, shittier ones that don't attract like they used to. Those rides cost much more to build now. Horrendous corporate management. And people just can't afford $25 parking, $60 front gate tickets, $18 for a shitty burger or chicken tendies, $12 dollar drinks, etc.

I worked for JPMorgan Chase and did some risk assessment for large existing and potential clients. Had a lot of big clients in this industry. All the ones that went out of business were for LEGAL REASONS, i.e. cutting costs for maintenance, which led to deaths and injuries hence large settlements paid out and lawyer dues.

Places like Universal and Disneyland are actually doing great because most of their rides won't maim or murder you. Ticket sales actually only account for only less than 20% of these companies profit margins, most are through deals with food and beverage vendors and toy/novelty item suppliers.
