I dunno man then get heavier weights and netting - you only have to push back what? ... A 3 kilo payload and a 3 kilo drone traveling at at what? Max 50kmh?

Drone operators aren't retarded, the net thing will work maybe once or twice but after that they are going to start trying to bait it out and dodge it.

What they need is a 1.5 inch smooth bore shotty custom loaded with what would be slightly heavier than bridshot. They need to be able to load ~16 rounds into a magazine so when the drones come they can just raise it up and tak-tak-tak-tak at the drone until it eats shit. The operator then simply swaps a magazine, and goes right back to it. Give it a longish barrel so it stays tight out to ~25 m

It should be a simple, stupid easy system so any poor fuck can scoop one up and at least *try* to make a run for his money, fuck sake.

Actually saw a vid of a Marine making a large stick with a net at the end of it, it would pretty much get tangled with the drone, and so it would explode a few feet further away from you so it increases your odds of surviving.

You'd obviously do best if using some low powered launcher grenade projectile (or large shotgun shell so to speak) and release the net on proximity with the target. Would work best with an advanced automated targeting system (so you do not have to cram a proxy fuse into your otherwise cheap projectile... unless there are reliable dirt cheap ones).

I'm serious about this >>512968267

They couldn't rig the drone for self-destruction when attacked, because they could never be sure that the change in position wasn't due to winds. Meanwhile, the falcon could hit and fly away from the drone before they knew what hit it; and the drone, once toppled by the bird, will be hitting the ground either way.

This guy --> >>512976129 is right.
They have jammers.
And they send in a drone and the guy with the jammer smashes the JAM ALL button because they have no idea what freq the drone is on.
Congratulations - you just painted yourself
Then they send in a fiber optic drone to bomb the jammer guy
Then follow up with a bunch of regular drones
They have drones that lay in wait and play dead - operating on minmimal power - and when it senses vibration or sound or whatever it "wakes up"
We had a version of this back during Desert Storm and that was 35 years ago.
Hit their airfields with hundreds of little dronelets that would lay there, play dead and listen
If it sensed the vibration of a helicopter, it would get up and 'walk' to the target on little legs and then detonate
Jammers are effective, but they require power and you just can't paint the entire countryside with high freq jamming signals

maybe if we add a capsule polyurethane (PU) foam at the center of net that release the foam and nebulized water when the net is shot, so not only does the net catch the drone, but the chemical reaction would cause mass expansion of the foam which is a perfect electrical insulator and would inder the electrical circuit on the drone to come into contact. that would reduce the chace of the drone to blow off despite holding momentum. crazy idea but better than nothing.

I was thinking something larger.
Like a belt fed shotgun - even a dual auto shotgun.
The M2 Browning is just an enlarged 30 cal Browning.
Same design could be used to dual mount them and feed from left and right respectively
I mean, we've been making this for 100 years it's not like we don't know how. Use a disintegrating link.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if you slaved it to a small radar and/or had it home in on the sound of the drone
Like the robot sentries from Aliens. They could be passive - just wait for the sound of a drone and BRRRT

>>512967628 (OP)
Range too short, probably not accurate enough, and most of all single shot. But something like bolas (lead pellets linked by thin steel wires) could be useful since it would improve the hit probability. You're not trying to catch the drone but to disable it. Just put several of these wired pellets in a single shell. Not sure if it would be much better than birdshot, it would need testing.

>>512968331
/k/ degenerate

>>512971103
That's already in the works. The problem is that large shotgun mags (either drum or straight) aren't super reliable. And even in Russia, mag fed semi auto shotguns like the Saiga 12 are far from being ubiquitous. Idk if they plan to ramp up the production. Shotguns are the infantry equivalent of the phalanx btw, last resort before lights out.

You can find a billion WW-II videos and stills of machine gunners manually shooting down aircraft that move up to 600+ mph 1000's of feet off the ground down to ground level. Now we have radar that can do it. Shit the fucking B29 had a radar guided fire control solution. You mean not one of the dumb fucks in modern warfare can put a mini radar guided AA gun on a tank? Not a Slavic shithead in the whole world can pull lead on a moving target? They fucking sit there or they run... in a straight line. You know the fucking drone goes faster than you can run bro. What the fuck happened to a platoon with interlocking fields of fire on a target? What happened to breaking pattern? This shit is fucking dumb and if you can't shoot a weapon a net isn't going to help you.

Jammer weeds out 90% of drones.
Yes jam all. Also I'd bet if you pulse a jammer when the drone disconnects it dosnt auto reconnect to the remote.

Checked. Optical tracking is certainly doable, especially using IR or thermals, and the range would be good enough against drones. But that solution is not expensive enough for the American MIC, and the Russian MIC is not good enough at electronics to be able to do this for cheap.
