You do change your own oil and filter, right
Do you? Politically speaking?

Why would I? My dealer does it free every year because we bought it there…

Theoretically how would you go about doing that, if you were never taught how to do it

No. I pay someone who makes less money than I do who specializes in that trade to perform my car maintenance and repair.
I also don’t make my own fabric or smelt my own steel.

this car has the valve head removed and the valves exposed
this isn't a pic of a simple oil change, Daan
this is a car in the process of a valve gasket replacement, if not something more serious
why are you bamboozling anons?

Yeah I'm a trained car mechanic and I also nowadays sometimes use JewTube videos and easily downloadable manuals, but there is a lot more to the tradecraft to be known. You need to know your tools. You need to know where to use what tool. Newton isn't a joke. Knowing ISO for spirals and sizes and shit isn't a joke either. Just understanding the vast number of different shit at a hardware store helps a lot. You do need the overall training, even if just changing the oil.

Now, that being said, following GOOD JewTube videos about oil change can indeed help you with the DIY jobs, but you still need to dispose the oil and filter properly - or risk getting a big fine.

>but you still need to dispose the oil and filter properly
this is one of the reasons I don't do this myself anymore
if I have to collect my spent oil and take it to a collection place, I might as well just go to a workshop let them change my oil
and no, I'm not going to dig a hole in the woods like a fucking nigger

Who cares about a few euros to dispense the old oil.

Changing oil is meditation, nice easy job to feel good on a summer day.

Im getn hard right now

>Who cares about a few euros to dispense the old oil.
it's about time efficiency
if I have to go somehwere as part of the process
I'm just gonna let them do it all
>Changing oil is meditation, nice easy job to feel good on a summer day.
nah, it's an annual inconvenience
I like driving, not fixing

Litterally breathing is not allowed here because of the killer c02, so all rules dont count anymore since the rules are stupid now.

So basically everything is allowed now

Oil changes have pretty much always been very cheap. Filter included. Back in the day they would even change your valve cover gasket while checking the valve clearance, everything done, oil included for under 100 bucks. Nowadays of course no need for it because all valves are hydraulic. Car manufacturers started to compete with lower maintenance costs long time ago. Things don't get fucked up easily but when they do, it will be very expensive. It was a good call to become a car mechanic. Literally saves thousands a year.

My first advice to all DIY mechanics is to buy an OBD2 scanner. Sometimes it actually helps. I was tracking a supposed electric failure in the fuel pump (Audi A6 Quattro with V6 automatic, my own car) because the car wouldn't start, I went through all the wires with a multimeter for a few days until my neighbor brought his OBD2 and it immediately said my battery power was slightly less than 12 volts which had initiated the immobilizer. The car started after I charged the battery over night.
