With how obese the world became over the last few decades, even the most mentally ill people realize it's a good idea to exercise. Like many things, once you start doing something that you like, you will try to get much better and more competitive at it.
The "problem" with fitness is that strength training is icky, cis-male and far right. So these freaks avoid that, leaving them with cardio, and running is the most accessible.
From there it should follow naturally that running becomes infested with them.
Couple that with gym bros looking down on cardio because there's a lot of women, and now trannies, and you get a horrible feedback loop turning the community into shit.

There is skill involved, but it's the kind of skill that is completely non-transferable. You get good at doing a specific sequence of moves in one game that no person outside a small community gives a fuck about.

But then I discovered the general runner community, and that alone was enough to make me avoid it wherever possible. Those "people" in the communities are the most arrogan, elitist, repulsive and disgusting subhumans to ever exist.
