Walmart to offer 1.6 million employees a 10% discount on groceries
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/13/walmart-expands-employee-discount-on-groceries.html

The groceries they buy on SNAP benefits because Walmart barely pays its employees enough to survive.
And then Walmart gets a tax break for the "discount" too.
How much of Walmart are you willing to pay for with your taxes?

Walmart pays better than most other comparable jobs in my area. Its part of how theyre able to out compete everyone else.
15$ an hour minimum.

If it the food or the fucking containers the food comes in that's being tariffed?

I doubt that matters when they can all jack the prices under the pretense of tariffs.

Buy local you stupid bitch

I think this is the most likely reason. Walmart can just blame the tariff while they jack up prices on shit.

Margins on groceries are lower than 10%

>food is 10% of cost of living
>get a 10% discount on food
So Walmart employees are getting (roughly) a one percent raise, paid in company scrip.

Co-op gives staff a 30% discount on own-brand shit. I don't know if they know this, but it stacks with reductions and the flat offers you can get on your membership card.

Another fun fact, Co-op's sandwich meal deal is £4 but £3.50 with a membership card. All it does is check if you have a main, side, and drink, then it deducts the extra 50p. It doesn't check that you've paid full price for the items. When I worked for them I got a meal deal for essentially free many times by getting the right items. It doesn't work anymore because they don't reduce things as far down now.

A 65p bottle of water on a 30% discount comes down to 45.5p, and buying it could take 50p off your bill. Go figure. The company is run by retards who can't do maths lmao.

Sounds like price gouging. The FBI should kick down the doors of the Waltons.

The fuck are you talking about? I "stock shelves" for a living and my bank account has only grown because I don't waste money on dumb shit.

I work at Walmart. I work at multiple stores. Most of people's shopping is now online and employees just run baskets around to fill orders. There's this one black kid who wears sunglasses at 3 in the morning while he works. I mean... how much should people get paid to run carts around a store?
