If your complaint about gamergate is about the modern male's taste in women then you need to delineate the difference between neoteny and dimorphism.

Neoteny=both sexes retain juvenile traits into adulthood, it's a common feature of brood parasitism and domestic animals with severe dependencies. It's also associated with fetal alcohol syndrome and down syndrome.
Dimorphism=both sexes have different secondary sexual features, I.E. women have a wider hip to waist ratio. The average person who pushes 'feminine' women think women should be built like sticks and virtually identical to 10 year old boys and infantile faces are somehow a secondary sexual feature.

Now why the preferences changed is beyond me, but these are the same people who will see a woman with a big ass and complain about it being too 'masculine' somehow, so clearly there's something else going on here. It's simple to just dismiss it as 'pedophilia' because neoteny definitely has overlap, but it's more of a symptom of oversocialization.
