We have another thread about this, all the beef processors got sold to the Chinese under Biden and you can buy US beef cheaper in China than you can here now.

That's the sole reason for this.

There is a cattle shortage. The lead time from demand to supply is quite long. You can't make cows grow any faster.

Faggot

1. Did the U.S. sell all its beef processors to Chinese entities under President Biden?
Noβ€”this claim is false. Major U.S. beef processorsβ€”Tyson Foods, Cargill, JBS, and National Beefβ€”remain under their existing ownership. While JBS and National Beef have ties to Brazilian companies, none have been sold to Chinese interests. In fact, the Biden administration has been pressing these companies to avoid anticompetitive practices amid concerns over inflation and consolidation in the meat industry.
thecattlesite.com

2. Are U.S. consumers now paying more for beef because of Chinese ownership of processors?
No. Since processors remain U.S.-oriented, that premise doesn't hold. Rising prices are attributed to other factors, such as:
Supply chain consolidation and alleged monopolistic pricing, which the administration has criticized among dominant meatpacking firms
thecattlesite.com
.
Inflationary pressures including higher feed costs, drought-related supply constraints, and increased consumer demand.

3. Is U.S. beef now cheaper in China than in the U.S.?
Also no. In fact, the opposite is true:
Following tariff escalation and regulatory hurdles, U.S. beef exports to China have largely halted. Many U.S. processing plants lost eligibility to export to China, and licensing issues remain unresolved
Pro Farmer
Reuters
News.com.au
thecattlesite.com
Fortune
Expana
ABC
Yahoo Finance
.
In Beijing and other parts of China, Australian beef has stepped in as the primary replacement, often priced about 40% cheaper than U.S. beef after accounting for tariffs
Reuters

.
Tariffs on U.S. beef to China are extremely steepβ€”up to 147% total (135% in retaliation plus a 12% baseline)
Yahoo Finance

. These make U.S. beef prohibitively expensive for Chinese importers.
Bottom Line
Claim: All U.S. beef processors were sold to Chinese under Biden. False
Claim: U.S. beef is cheaper in China now. False
Real reasons for rising beef prices in the U.S.: domestic inflationary pressures, market consolidation, supply constraints.
U.S. beef in China: Severely restricted or halted due to high tariffs and regulatory barriers; replaced by Australian beef, which is cheaper in China.

The shit in opaque tubes maybe. But every meat counter has USA origin ground beef for marginally more. Every Walmart and Safeway etc. everywhere in the nation.

I can believe people buy the opaque tube meat, I don't know why. But I've seen it many times. I need to at least see my meat there.

>Most cattle in the US are raised for steaks and other cuts.
Yes but there's offal and cheeks and bits of clingy meat here and there, the little knobbly bits, this all gets sent into the food supply too. I like those beef cheeks you often find in the hispanic section for a sort of poor man's beef Burgundy.

Chinese bought Smithfield so they would always have a supply of pork, not beef.
When swine flu wiped out a ton of their pig herds, the next big pork-eating holiday rolled around and they lacked pork, and riots ensued.
That's why they bought a second backup source. Chinese are much bigger eaters of pork than, well, anybody.

None of this changes the fact of why a McChicken is no longer a buck.
I never begrudged McDonalds kids their raise, or claimed it made them rich.
Maybe you should just find a strawman to argue with, memeflaggot.

I wish people could accept that the prices they pay for basically everything has been artificially controlled for many decades. When prices rise like this, they approach what things should actually cost given what goes into their production.

The problem is NOT that groceries and other necessities of life are too expensive. It is that wages do not keep up with what these necessities cost, and constitute a larger and larger chunk of what we earn.

The notion that price fixing is a valid solution to this problem is dangerously naive, and has led to the downfall of nations in the past. Instead, radical change in economic policy is required. The kind of change that itself risks destruction of the polity.

Take your cue from what the nations who are forming alternative monetary systems are doing. The ones that Trump is actually fighting at the moment. He is not the hero in this tale, but rather the villain.
