I'm ex military. Connected to the intelligence community. Worked in a max secure facility domestically until I quit in disgust at the institutional abuse and bullying. My late old man was CAF and a genuinely good, talented and fun companion. A veteran of the Cold War! He never pressured me to follow in his footsteps but neither discouraged me. I chose to not enlist. I perused his service records, and all he wanted to do was electronics but they kept him pulling wrenches. Sad. He was posted to an Army base and they made him a firearms instructor which led to hearing damage. His hands were shot from all the impact wrenching he endured. He was often grumpy when he came home from work, but I had no idea the shit he had to go through. Feeling pretty smart for not hurling my own self at the brass ring.
