They have entire whale hunting departments. After a certain point the truly big spenders get their own dedicated agent from the company whose one and only job is to curate content just for that whale, and to invite them to events and conventions and whatnot with complementary travel and hotels. They spend so much money that it's worth courting them that hard to keep them onboard.

I get a little sad when I hear about someone who pays even a dollar for bonuses in these stupid fucking phone games.

Imagine being a woman, spending hundreds of dollars on slop like this every year but having the audacity to denounce actual video games as distractions for man-children

How the fuck do you even spend that much money on a game? I mean inviting people to hotels is going to run you thousands, tens of thousands of $. So the whale spends multiples of that.
How do you spend hundreds of thousands on a fucking mobile game? Do you really need to push that last 4 star character to 5 star by rolling a thousand times on gacha when you're already 1shot killing every content?

Even gachas are more friendlier than this

I knew a woman that spent $800 a month on mobile games.
She did it to keep up with people in her online friend group.

They all sell multiple "battle passes" at the same time. You could spend $100 on just three battle passes a week if you felt the need to
These games are money printers

The games with timers are basically infinite money printers. Pay to bypass the timer. Alright, you've sped up the game, gotten past the timer, here's the next timer. Pay to bypass the timer. You can pay to bypass months worth of timers in an hour if you literally don't care about your money.
Then the serious whales (who must have inherited fuckloads of money or something) also buy boosters and gacha rerolls by the thousands. Then when they get noticed, they start getting "bundles" and eventually curated events in game that nobody else gets to even see but do have ample opportunities to buy your way through. They'll have the developers literally make new content to bait individual whales. When you've got a Saudi prince spending six figures a day on nothing, it pays to metaphorically suck his dick with luxury events. Spend tens of thousands to comp his travel while he spends many times that every single week, if not every single day. You would be stupid to just treat someone like that the same as everyone else.

This. When you are someone like DSP who has spent 200k+ on WWE Champions mobile game you are worth so much money to the company and they will do everything to keep you hooked and spending.

The top spenders on these slop games pay hundreds of thousands a year, it's unbelievable. I think there was a Farmville insider who said they had multiple whales in the high 100K-low 200K range. How the fuck that is possible is beyond me. Must be some bored CEO's wife who plays while he cheats on her and nannies and maids run the house.

There are people who spend thousands on gacha mobile games. It's fucked up. They are known as whales. I think in some cases there are people who have spent over $100k but I don't know if that's true or not

It happened to Diablo Immortal, since Blizzard can't even exploit people correctly they had at least one true whale spend over $100,000 to completely max out a character, but there's no content for characters that strong and he couldn't matchmake with anyone because he completely lapped them in power far beyond what even the stretchiest level difference algorithm could handle. If it was an experienced exploitation company they'd have made up new content for him rather than let him sit idle with literally nothing to do or spend.

About 10 years ago i became friends with two guys from Singapore who spent ~75k each on this mobile game. One of them also spent a ton on Gundam figurines. I can only imagine it's even worse with today's gacha slop.
What's more surprising to me though is the amount of South Americans and South East Asians who spend their entire monthly income just to be mediocre in these types of games.

Topps, the baseball card company probably makes more off of its Star Wars trading card app than they do from actual cardboard. It's fucking weird. I play it for free, and one day I tried to figure out how much they might make. There was a certain bonus "card" aka a .jpeg that was only in $100 packs. There were over 50 of them in player accounts already when I checked, and they'd been out less than a few hours. A fucking .jpeg.

>that's true or not
it is. i've played a shit ton of gatcha games just to collect jiggly titty waifus while im taking a shit. these "games" are fucking BORING, if you can even call them a game. usually, there is no gameplay, they just play themselves (idle games) and all you do poke buttons to upgrade shit endlessly to make number go up, and roll for waifus they all use the exact same cookie-cutter formula down to being exact carbon copies of each other. yet in everyone i've played there's always a dozens of people who obviously dropped a ton of money on getting the biggest numbers. it's almost entirely asians, their number autism must really coom itself watching the number get bigger. also porn being banned in korea makes these games extremely popular there.

Americans are big spenders too from what I've gathered over the years. It's generally Europoors who don't really reach whale status.
