I did work for a little bit and then 2½ years of "real work" based on my education.
I'm definitely a little embarrassed as a 31 year old guy that my entire work backlog is just 3 years so far.
The good part is I enjoyed working enough so that I'll not be ruined by having to do it again within the year, but I did feel so much stress during work, and some really bad days where I sorta didn't dress correctly (I'm the T-shirt/hoodie guy) where I feel like it must've been cringe, but having to go through the same shit 9 to 5 every day eventually reaches such a "I literally don't care anymore" point for me; idk how anybody does it without entering that mode.

I've always been anti-driven. Even when I was a kid, if you let me stay by myself I would find something immersive and forget time. Other people aren't like that. They're bored constantly the second nothing in particular happens, and need to get out of their seat and do an activity.

Life, and work, is just very hard when you've never had that feeling yourself. My entire life consists of others bringing me into things, and never me deciding to bring myself into things.

In the 70s, an average man's wage was the equivalent of $156k today. That means a guy could just go out and get a job, not even a good job, not even an AVERAGE job, and still do better than someone making double the average wage today.
All men had the opportunity to buy a house and provide for a family if they simply agreed to get a job and work. Now, the only way you're doing that is if you make well over double the average wage, which of course very few people are going to do. You remove all responsibilities from a man, then get shocked when he lives as a man without any responsibilities. What is a man without a family supposed to do? At least he's gonna enjoy himself through his hobbies, whether they're productive or not.
