Well prior to the shitstorm more houses was a good idea as it would allow the ageing generation (that did not vote for more immigration in this alt timeline) to retire comfortably in their own homes, while still allowing their children to form lives in homes they owned.
Now we're up shit creek and one the one hand we're building "housing" but its only for immigrants.
