BREAKING NEWS | U.S. officials have warned that they will not protect the SDF if Damascus decides to launch a military operation.

Turkey will not directly intervene against the SDF but will support the Syrian army. Preparations have already been completed.

But the Kurds, as far as I know aren't terrorists, so we should protect them against Turkey, and Ukraine, well I don't want Russia just taking all the clay they want so I do want to support them into a stalemate that makes Russia stop doing landgrabs.

Because we don't actually have a foreign policy. We've been drifting listless since the Soviets collapsed and are trying to keep an unstable status quo where we somehow want to be allies with both sides of any given conflict.

As an example of how schizophrenic our foreign policy is, we tried to become an ally of India and Pakistan at the same time.
We simply need to figure out what our priorities and interests actually are.

like, the CIA built up Saddam Hussein to fight the Iranians, he turned out to be a dick, we put him down, and the resulting power vacuum and resistance to our presence merged a bunch of terrorist groups together to become ISI, then the Syrian civil war began, we didn't like Assad so we started arming groups that we thought were "moderates" and ISI joined in the Syrian civil war and ended up taking aid meant for the "moderate" rebels which were in bed with the now formed ISIS and Al Nusra front
It was a mess, we had no dog in the fight when it came to Syria and we never should have backed any rebel groups.
But now with us having created ISIS in a power vacuum and then arming them by trying to have a stake in the Syrian Civil War, we now created our own problem (again, like Saddam) and we decided to back the Kurds to fight them.
as far as I know the Kurds aren't a problem for us (but for Turkey) but with us stabbing them in the back like this? They're going to become our problem.
We never learn our lesson.
if we hadn't have backed rebel groups in Syria which empowered ISIS, we wouldn't have had to back the Kurds and then rugpull them to where they'll now do terrorist attacks against us.
