My advice to anyone who is genuienly a NEET in this thread is this: You're not a lost cause just because you wasted your entire 20s and maybe half your 30s. Nobody is truly a lost cause if they themselves really want to break away from bad life choices.
When I studied as a 23 year old one of my co-students was a 60 year old man, and he just sat in class like everyone else because he had a change of career from construction to computers. Now he's working on some sort of finance software at a medium company.
Now, he had a career, that is true. His social skills existed but were dated to how people acted in his age, but people put up with that, but he obviously wasn't the one everyone wanted to be in groups with.
If you take steps to learn how to dress better than you currently do (all of which can be researched with Google) you can save some of your NEET Bux to buy some cheap formal clothes, do your hair and use products to improve your hygiene. Always shave your beard in this time.
Take runs or walks any time you're bored and feel listless in front of your computer. All you need are a pair of running shoes.

And then find work. Start with the dumbest work, just to get going and then explore opportunities.

Until you stop drawing breath, you can always find new ways to get success.

Former NEET of over a decade here. I was a NEET from 2010-2023 and it was fucking amazing but then, my mother got sicker and sicker and I didn't take the time to start working or going to college and get an education. Just keep shucking and jiving. She then passed away and my safety net of living in a place ended. The free ride ended. And it was my own fucking fault for living off of my mom for that long. Starting with wage-slaving isn't as bad as people say. You can work in restaurants or factories, and I actually had a fun time driving around and carrying things on my first job. It was only a 30 hours a week position but still gave me a fair amount of income, and I liked being able to meet up really early, but also get home at noon and have the entire day of sunlight to just physically rest and play games or watch movies. And if my boss said "Can you stay here longer, we really need to get everything sent before we leave" I would like it, because it was a check-in system. You arrived at the job and checked in your card. Every 5 minutes counted for more salary, so a month where I ended up working until dinner time I'd be filthy rich.
That's probably not as fun to start with if you're 35+ but it's not as bad as it sounds if you only do it for 6 months or a year, and then find something more relaxed.
And once you can prove to the next employer that you're not just bumming out, they will trust that they can hire you and expect you to meet up on time and do real work easily.
