I think it depends on what kind of alone. Once I was actually isolated for weeks at a time. Hitching between some of the smaller towns in a desert. Didn't realize how far away they were from each other at first. Didn't even have the right amount of supplies to make the walk between cities the first time and nearly died. Once I had the amount of water I'd need to not die the next thing I noticed was that it was getting harder and harder to speak from not doing it for a week or so at a time. It was like I had lost the muscle memory to make words.

I guess what I'm getting at is there are different levels to this and some of those levels you can lose your mind at.
