A big issue here is how we view inflation as something tied to what the government is doing instead of the standard profit motives we all understand in any other context. We know major corporations want more profit this quarter than last quarter so prices go up. We know people don't instantly change their habits, they aren't perfectly in tune with the consequences of financial decisions to live like they need only be eating potatoes, rice, and ramen.

So to protect our systems from liberal and lefty smugness, profit motive is protected, hidden under the notion that increasing prices are really the government's fault entirely.

I think more realistically the US has two corporate parties.
Both parties are 100% bought in on "Number must go up" economics, which back in the day that was a conservative view, until Teddy Roosevelt more or less started the Progressive and Populist movements (because those were united, though non-progressive populists did attempt to gain power before), based around the idea that rich assholes shouldn't get to control vast amounts of the US and abuse its people and resources.
These days it's still arguably a conservative view point to say "As long as business is good everything is good" but now it has mutated into a liberal view point as both parties believe in using the power of the government to protect these companies, making it the worst of both conservative and liberal values.
Then to make it all worse, both parties through around a bunch of idpol and social bullshit just to upset each other.

No party in the US actually believes in right wing view points (small government, serves to protect the borders, otherwise let people live their lives and state/local governments handle internal matters), nor does any party in the US actually believe in left wing view points (government should serve the people, while state and local should handle more direct issues, a strong Federal is needed to go after the economic power houses).

And given both Republicans and Democrats are technically private companies who have abused the law to enshrine themselves into a key part of American politics that cannot be easily removed, everything has to fall in line with what those two private companies say.
