My dad works an investment job and has never called in sick in 25+ years, they gave him a bbq grill and threw a pizza party for him in the office

From my experience, the longer you work at one place, the more they want/need to fire you. Your age goes up which means your productivity and speed goes down, yet you accrue raises and the cost to keep you employed goes up. Every single place I ever worked did this, where when you start making too much, they start writing you up for silly shit and eventually fire you. I remember a co worker of mine years ago when we worked maintenance for a large company was let go after he missed work due to a heart attack he went to the ER for. He had worked there 15 years, but one day missed, because of a heart attack, and he was canned. I quit myself the next month just because of how disgusted I was with them.

i saw that in retail. there was a new district manager and their first priority was replacing all of the store managers in the district who'd been there the longest because they were "getting paid too much." what's the point if you're punished for loyalty?

Yeah I did retail for 15 years before getting my black seal license and going into building maintenance. Retail is was very obvious though. We had this old Puerto Rican manager in his 60s who was amazing (Loved Ozzy, stayed overnights and blared metal over the PA system) but they fired him totally out of the blue and for no reason one day and replaced him with a 25 year old fat blonde chick who didn't even work there. She showed up, no experience, and was made manager. Place spiraled downward after that. I remember before I quit I told them they'd be bankrupt in a year....

...they went bankrupt in a year.

Years later I saw the store manager in the doctor's office and just asked him why he was fired. "Made too much, corporate wanted him axed"

Most work places have a cap on how much a certain position will make no matter how many years you have. So a guy with 3 years experience will be making the same as another with 20 years because more years does not mean they are more productive.

I don't speak Hindi. Can you translate that to English and explain how this is politics?
