When you really see the scale of evil it's clear it's been this bad for probably thousands of years (but the entire mainstream historical record could be fake so we can't even meaningfully talk about anything that happened over ~150 years ago anyway). Just the slow meticulous execution of a grand plan. The only real white pill is and has always been the possibility of some kind of true metaphysical miracle - spiritual ascension, the fundamental restructuring of reality or revelation of deeper layers of reality yet unseeable by us in our current state.

Don't concern yourself with the puppet show except as a form of entertainment. Observe it as you would a flock of birds or a comedy film. It's just activity happening in reality. It wants you to think it's more important than the tree outside your house or the wind blowing, but it's not, and you have no more control over it than you do over which way the tree leans or which way the wind blows. Monster is a cartoon for idiots.
It's the worst kind of anime. The one that takes itself so seriously, but screws up important bits like the direction and the way it handles exposition.

Just because it has adult characters doesn't mean it's some mature drama for grown-ups. Especially when the characters explain everything directly to the camera, out loud.
And the show goes on 3 times longer than it's supposed to because they have to repeat everything 3 times.

I would rec reading the manga it could be done in much shorter time, keeps the authors original intent, and the lamer parts of the story that are there cause it was a serialized manga are less pronounced than how slow the anime is
