Part and parcel. Don't believe me? Don't get it? There's one small problem, for you, which is the continued existence of rural regions where life can be very white and even explicitly 18th century themed. If someone didn't want the whole package of phone and internet along with weird foreigners everywhere, they could just leave. Maybe you think the world should revolve around WASPs more than it already does, chasing some peak moment of the industrial era or greatest generation, but that world didn't have internet.
