If you really want to know, (probably you don't since this is a slide thread) it's cause internationally, there are more urging issues to care about (rising inflation, gaza, jeet invasion) than some old British trading port that was willing sold/returned to the Chinks by the brits.

Locally in Hong Kong, the movement is pretty much dead after mass arrest of movement leader/ dissdent/ us plants (whatever you want to call it) back in 2021 and subsequent arrest of anyone publicly supporting the movement. This lead a sizeable portion of the population who supported the movement moving to UK/CAN/AUS (I think roughly 200 - 400k and rising), and the local government mass importing mainland chinks pretty much killed any hopes and interest for the local population. Not too mention, local population are more concerned about falling property prices, weaken economy and terrible job market than political freedom.
Personally, speaking as a chink, I don't think there will ever be any western-like democracy for any country with majority chink population, and any revolution/revolt/coup in any chink country will simply default to some form of authoritarian government. History have proven it before and I doubt it will be any different in the future.
