What are some general characteristics that shills use to engage in this board? I'm trying to develop a general guide on how to detect/spot them, and I have a few general ideas so far. Any (worthwhile) contributions are welcome

The first thing to know about shills is they're inherently different from you and I. They aren't 4chan posters in the strict sense, if they ever were, because they're trying to crack the code and subvert the normal process of making a meme. The term cancer is apropos because shill threads are corrupted threads that don't work right and don't lead to anything good. More on that in a minute.

Shills use bots to consistently reply and generate new OPs. The chatbot, any chatbot, is verbally equal to you but has zero IQ. It can't hold onto specifics but it can expertly steer you away from a topic. In particular the LLM writing style will have several distinct clauses that all lead to some pertinent thought process, but they don't fit together in any way. This is designed to make (you) choose, filling in the "correct" narrative and laundering the LLM's ignorance into something resembling a real position. The confusion of a meaningless sentence makes you fight even harder to see patterns, to help the AI like filling out a captcha, and it mentally exhausts you to forget your subject and lose skepticism. Here's an example: "The wind blows my way down the act of voter representation" Posters who do this aren't stupid, they're bots.

So basically the issue boils down to:

-arguing against nature
-supporting perversion
-attacking norms
-inverting everything normal

Anything to get people to say "Hey wait no, thats wrong"

The purpose of a shill thread is twofold. Obviously they want to make money for the shilled product and capture low-tier lurkers, primarily children and the mentally retarded, for their fanbases. What's really interesting is their goal for the board overall. It actually costs money to shill, day-to-day uptime and bribing 4chan staff don't come cheap. We're supposed to believe this is a tiny irrelevant site, but that's obviously false. Even so, most won't be turning a profit -- so what's their goal?

It seems there are various goals. Some shilling comes from a zoomer republican wing, the mike rowe josh hawley shit about making men work, but they're not just getting a message across. They're also poisoning the site. Trying to make anyone with a brain turn away in disgust. That's where you get shill threads mocking you. It goes back to the non-native element of shilling, and its inherently destructive nature. They do want to destroy this site and you. Truly this is the most powerful place on the internet.
