The shit would sell really well if it was cheaper than real meat by a good amount.

Americans have ZERO issue with buying fake shit if it's cheaper. It's sad but people go a good chunk of their lives thinking shit like "table syrup" is maple syrup.
They'll buy margarine if it's cheaper than butter
They'll buy grape drank if it's cheaper than juice
etc

There is almost never a time that most Americans will by something fake for a higher price.

The vegan products market overall has been in rapid decline since early 2021.
As it goes, after Bidenโ€™s inauguration, many large VC investors who pledged money to vegan item manufacturers, retailers and other players in the market. At the time, the projections claimed endless growth for veganism (rebranded plant-based so the ethical part could be removed to make veganism mainstream-friendly), but - wow - the numbers were never there to backup the estimated future revenue because there were nowhere near the number of people buying these items. VCs donโ€™t have left-leaning bleeding heart desire to blow cash on social programming, so they pull up stakes and run when they know the projections are bullshit. This caused many vegan companies to implode as they had been experiencing great COVID-era sales increases, but when shit reopened nationwide, 6 months later, sales were back to old numbers and that was as good as it got.
Most people arenโ€™t aware that Bill Gates was an early Beyond Meat investor, giving over $30 million to them for product development. Iโ€™m sure he helped bail them out, as companies will creatively buy their own product to inflate numbers if need be as JUST vegan foods got caught a few years back. Remember, it wasnโ€™t about saving animals, it wasnโ€™t about improving your health (though arguably, most people could use more exposure to vegetables and natural foods), it has always been about reshaping society to weaken us further. Sure, some in the vegan movement were good people with good hearts, but the whole thing got co-opted long ago by corporate bullshit and now itโ€™s a fucking joke.

There's lots of vegetarian food which actually tastes great. Not eating meat is not healthy for humans but it's doable and no normal human would stop eating meat just for muuh poor animals while actual vegetarians eat other stuff and not imitation meat garbage.

I love beef jerky but it's so damn expensive. I tried almost every plant based jerky and they were all barely 10% cheaper (or even MORE expensive) for total crap taste.

Now if plant jerky cost like 1/5th the amount of real jerky then MAYBE, but not at "real meat" prices.
Also notice that they've been trying to push "other jerkys" (chicken, pork) sometime hiding the (NOT BEEF) nature of alt jerky.
