inflation is an increase in the money supply causing the price of all goods to go up, not just beef

Bought a whole cow and hog from my local farmer. Probably cheaper now relative to Costco prices. Paid $5.99/lb of hanging weight, pick all my cuts. Corn finished, that meat is delicious. Couldn't go back.

You should take time to understand CPI. How the data is collected is by putting items into "buckets" then they will call stores and ask what they are selling the item for. If not enough stores answer they will "guess" the price of the item. Or if the items is too high they will "substitute" with a similar item. ~30% to 40% of all CPI data is estimated or substituted these days.

Liberals keep telling me that my groceries have gotten more expensive since Trump took office again. Yet when I go the store, they aren't. Why are my grocery store and bank account lying to me and saying I'm not spending more despite the liberals adamantly telling me that I am?

Accounting for the fact that they're slightly different amounts of meat, going from $49 to $78 from April 2024 to Aug 2025 would be explained by ~2.6% inflation each month in that time span.

2.7% inflation doesn't mean 2.7% each month for the past year. CPI inflation measures Year over Year inflation. July 2024 vs July 2025 and saying it is 2.7%.
