Contraception is in complete and utter control of women. Women have the ability through modern medicine to effectively make themselves infertile and reactivate their reproductive capabilities when they want. And even if all this fails, they have abortion available in at least half the country, their number one issue that matters more than the economy or war. If a woman gets pregnant when she does not want to, from a man that SHE CALLS A DEADBEAT, then it's completely and utterly her fault. We've handed over the reins of reproduction over to women to the point in which men have absolutely no legal say on who gets pregnant when.
So if a woman has a baby from a man that is a piece of shit, it's her fault. Men don't date women for years, marry them, have a baby with them, then just walk away from all of it. This does not happen en masse to the point in which we give women the benefit of the doubt. Very, very, very few men ever just go through all this to completely and utterly abandon their family.
The amount of women that are single moms solely because of their own irresponsibility are so high that to say this is why women are single moms is not a generalization, it's just a fact. It no longer becomes a generalization when it's correct 9/10 times.
Women are the ones who decide who gets sex. So they are responsible for getting pregnant.

And one caveat with that is that we had systems in place to mitigate things like this. Women had networks of men that would screen men for her, to give her the best shot of ending up with a better, safer man.
But women systematically dismantled these systems so they can pick their own men.
