Children aren't mean to be raised by just the mom and dad but aunts, uncles, and grandparents as well. My sister asked my parents if they could watch the kids while she worked (they're retired and don't do anything else). They acted indignant and said they wanted to enjoy their retirement. The only way they would do it is if they got paid. I watch my niece and nephew for free because that's what family does.
