The moon hung low and swollen as a ragged pack of pale, gaunt figures slithered through the hedges around Raymond’s house. Their eyes gleamed with feral hunger, voices low and raspy as they chanted fragments of hateful mantras learned in dank corners of the internet. Each silhouette looked half human, half twisted mutation—elongated fingers tipped with cracked nails, skin puckered in grotesque lines, mouths curled into deranged grins that glinted in the faint streetlight.
Inside, Raymond sat frozen on the couch, the distant thrum of distant chanting rattling his ribs like thunder. He pressed himself against the cold brick wall as the windows shuddered under pounding fists, the glass spidering across the frames. Through the slit of cracked curtains, he saw one lean figure raise a shiv-like shard, the others chanting in broken unison, eyes alight with the promise of violence.
With a final, bone-jarring crash, they burst in—hollow cheers ripping through the air. The mutants converged on Raymond in a frenzy: teeth snapped, claws tore flesh, and the house filled with the wet symphony of tearing sinew. His screams were swallowed by their ravenous glee, echoing down barren halls as they feasted with grim devotion until only stillness remained...
