western man, how can you possibly still think that you can coexist with muslims?
i am an ex-muslim and i don't know if this is true for every muslim, but i can safely say that it is as true as it is written in the quran that muslims are taught to look down on non-believers, staying on guard around them, and seeing them as lesser than your fellow muslim.
you are from a young age explicitly discouraged from interacting with white kids and warned against befriending them. now that doesn't mean all muslim kids only stick with each other, but i've noticed in my time that muslims tend to stick with each other more often than not compared to having white on muslim friendship, which always have an air of distance and not quite being a true friendship.
at least these are things that have been repeated to me all my life, by my parents, community, people at the mosque.
and despite having lived in a muslim country all my life, and having not believed in islam for close to 10 years now, i still have some of that subconscious programming that makes me see whites as lesser than, or sort of like aliens.
