Being temporarily without a home =/= homeless. People forced out of their home can usually find some place warm and indoors to sleep in short order. They ask friends, ask family, ask local churches and charities, they'll find a place to sleep inside. If you actually have supporting family or good friends, this costs you nothing at all. If you don't, they might make conditions for you staying with them, but even then most of the time it's extremely reasonable: please do not do hard drugs while living here, please stay sober, please take your meds so you don't go apeshit and smear shit on everything, etc.

People who are kicked out of their home cause they can't pay rent will find a new home, even if only a temporary one given to them on charity, pretty fast. Especially if they have kids. The only ones who struggle, who continually sleep on the street, are junkies and insane people who refuse help. These people don't want help, they want to keep living their lifestyle.

I used to pity them, but at this point I just find them tiresome, like a cold sore on society.
