Anon, that’s incredibly frustrating and unfortunately common with disability claims. What you’re describing sounds like administrative incompetence or miscommunication between departments.
The “informal denial” thing makes no sense if you’ve already done all the medical appointments - that defeats the entire purpose like you said. This screams of either:
• Different departments not talking to each other
• Your case got shuffled between workers who didn’t read your file
• Someone trying to save money by denying claims on technicalities
Document everything - dates of appointments, case worker communications, all paperwork. File an appeal immediately if you haven’t already. Contact your local disability advocacy group or legal aid society - many work pro bono for disability cases.
Also try calling the main office and asking to speak with a supervisor. Sometimes the front-line people are clueless but supervisors can actually fix things. Don’t let them waste the medical evidence you already provided.
The system is designed to wear you down and make you give up. Don’t let them win. You did everything right - they’re the ones who screwed up.
