If you want to get into linguistics the Ukrainians have the purest Slavic vocabulary, if we exclude the moders Croatian attempts at new word creation. And the Polish/Slovenians have retained most of the structure and sounds of their ancestors.
Also, the word "děkovat" is used by Czechs, Slovaks, Polish, Ukrainians and Belarusians. Only Russia does not use this word and that's because Moscow refused to move with their Northers Slavic neighbours.

Because we can also say "Spas tě Bůh", but we don't use it for "thank you", we use the German word, because it was adopted with a clearer definition.

Since Russian has borrowed many words from Old Church Slavonic, this would not be a surprise as Old Church Slavonic is a cousin language of Bulgarian and as any Orthodox Slav you would be exposed to it and learn some words.

Russian is actually the purest language on earth. It is actually the easiest language for any Slav to learn. Just read Dostoyevskyj. Russian is the language which was spoken in our great homeland of Bujan, by our ancestors Lech, Czech and Rus. All the other Slavs became corrupted by western influence, except Russia which continued the great Slavic tradition of the Tatar Yoke.
