20/80 . Applies to most jobs as well. 20% is responsible for 80% of the output.

A business has a certain objective or target it needs to fulfill. It hires people to fulfill those targets and objectives. As long as the added value of these jobs outweigh costs (also costs that aren't directly quantifiable) they're a net benefit. The '8 hour workday' is a relic from a time where people needed to attend machinery and they could in theory do that 12 hours a day. The vast majority of modern jobs aren't standing behind a machine for 8-12 hours per day.

Doing these jobs is genuinely demotivating. I'm currently on ''sick leave'' for 2 months already. I'm claiming burnout. I'm just done working for this company so I'll collect my 2 years of benefits and I'll see if something nice comes along the way.
The biggest bullshit jobs of all are probably the ones related to ministry of defense. All it boils down to in the end is being a vassal client state of the USA. The only things that might see operational use are special forces / anti terrorism units and airforce.
