Why would Muslims reject the words of a man from the 2nd century?

Muslims worship the Demiurge. Islam is what you get when take Gnosticism and turn it on its head. If you believe in the Demiurge of Gnostic Christianity, but deny the existence of anything greater than the Demiurge, then it follows logically that the one and only path to salvation is to submit to the Demiurge (Islam's exact namesake principle). Assuming this, Jesus can only be rationalized as having been a Prophet of the Demiurge who taught this one and only path to salvation to his people who've strayed from it, far removed and spiritually antithetical from being the key out of the Demiurge's matrix as Gnostics recognize Jesus as being.
