Vietnam was impressive from a military perspective. No other nation could have pulled off what USA did.

Yet they killed 1 million combatants and lost only ~60k soldiers and held South Vietnam until they had to withdraw because political reasons. Without the threat of the Soviets and China to start world war 3 in case the US invades North Vietnam the war would have been over much faster with a destruction of the communist regime in Vietnam.
