It's why he met with Putin to strategize how best to get him what he wants and then pulls Zelensky in under the direct assumption that they will iron out a peace deal. He got Putin's demands, and now it's time for Electric Russiaboogaloo 2. The peace talks will fail because Trump demands Zelensky essentially surrender for zero security guarantees and Trump will have more ammo to withhold more security assistance from Ukraine.
