Canadians did this to themselves. America did not have a welfare state then. America had plenty of land to establish and actually needed people from Europe to settle lands and establish industry, which they willingly did. Consequently, they accepted all the responsibilities and obligations that citizen required.

Canadians believe all you need to have to live in the peace and harmony of a high trust society was to enter Canada and pay your subscription to higher taxation in exchange for that more benevolent, government service of love and gratitude. In fact, you will see our high-trust society works so well that the media easily convinced us to stop believing in the existence of low-trust people. When they come here, they will change, adopt Canadian behaviors, values. They will see the divine light, for their subscription included a free download of liberal values, all that is required.
