I think the Aramaic speaking village is Oriental Orthodox:

They are bringing atheists back towards Jesus and Salvation for sure (myself included). The political mixing in Christianity to serve things like mammon and humanism has been gross, and besides my own predilection to sin in making my own choices about everything, that is probably the biggest, "bad taste", that drove me away, and keeps me suspicious of any organized form of "Christianity", including the Orthodox Church.
You guys should realize Salvation is a free gift from God, and if you are convicted of sin and repenting, whether by circumstances of desperation or you are inspired by Orthodox or whatever, that is a wonderful thing, but you must realize that when you are brought to the end of yourself like this and you pray to God to save you, that you are a sinner and need Christ's Salvation, that you can't do it on your own, when you really come to that you will have a changed life and are Saved to Christ.
Orthodox teach specifically lots of practice regarding Salvation, repentance, and the fruits of Christian life because it is so serious, to my knowledge: that they are the Church in communion with Christ, and if you are not with them basically your Salvation is in question. In fact listening to Father Spyridon, he had mentioned that to try to do Christianity entirely on your own is vain and even a demonic lie, that it is almost impossible to bear spiritual fruit separated from the Orthodox Church; thus, they are coming down very hard on Protestants more than anything else, and on concepts like Sola Scriptura.
All in all I think it is a mark of Christianity to tolerate freedom of conscience where people learn by experience, but to reach out to them where they start to wallow in sin. Evangelicals and Protestants have done and do quite a lot in that regard, it is spiritual work with no glamor or thanks in this life.
