To answer your question though, i think it's just about how much he is in touch with his natural male aggression. An element of homosexuality is a cutting off of one's own masculinity. I think tops are just more in tune with theirs, whereas exclusive bottoms are incredibly passive. In my own experience, it kind of depends on who you're paired with sometimes - there's a kind of unspoken mutual agreement that one of you is more masculine and therefore is the top in that particular space.

It's actually pathogenic than anything else. Gregory Cochrane did some writing on it back in the days, the tl dr is the factors that correlate with male homosexuality like 60% of all the factors and there's little chance of said factor to be anything but exposure to some particular pathogen during some stage of childhood.
