You can solve a lot of the context problem by using memory prompts - keywords in text that pull up information you want it to remember, as well as using summaries of your conversation to help keep it in context.

It's still an issue but it's not insurmountable to deal with. There's also a new LLM method as of a few days ago, HRM I think it was called, which uses a high level algorithm to control a lower level algorithm that does most of the work. This in turn is helping it keep broadly on context and working towards actual goals.

The demonstration paper had a 27 million (with an M) parameter LLM completely btfo every top of the line model - chatgpt, grok, gemini, deepseek, claude, etc. at reasoning tasks.

Considering how well it did and the size of the model, I'm looking forward to seeing that get adopted and put into stuff soon.
