It's been true since mid 20th century.
Lawfags have done a hostile takeover of all political decision roles in western governments.
Just look at the composition of the US, UK, French, Italian, etc politicians in the early 20th centuries. There were blood aristocrats, military officers, captain of industry, engineers, even a surprising number of mathematicians. Look at their diplomas today and it's a majority of lawfags and the rest in "political science" and related.
