So let’s say you are check to check. Slap in two roommates and your single biggest expense is eviscerated. You now have an extra 10-15k at the end of the year.

Add in a night/weekend job like bartending. You now have an extra 20-30k a year.
So you have like 30-45k extra money at the end of the year. You can invest that or you can just do that for 3 years and have a significant down payment on a home.
